Hi everybody, As some of you know, I'm in the process of applying to Oxford University, I would like to study history there next year. I just wanted to tell you all that I have passed the History Aptitude Test and that they've invited me over for interviews in two weeks. *dead* Love, Lies PS: Meredith & Griselda: Sorry for the weird stuff I said on your answering machines . Was hyper.

Wow, that is so awesome! I have always had an obssession with Oxford (and England in general!) and I am hoping to apply there myself in a couple of years...but right now I am applying to University College London to do a Master's degree. I hope you get in to Oxford, I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Good luck with your interviews. Just relax and don't let any of the stuffy old don-types intimidate you, which is what happened to me (at Cambridge). If it works the same way as at Cambridge, one of the interviews will be with a personal tutor (or supervisor, who won't teach you), and one with an actual lecturer (who will). I sailed through with the tutor, but totally messed up with the lecturer becuase I was mesmerised by his untidy office (that's my excuse anyway!). Think before you respond, and make sure you swot up on your chosen subject (and specialisations) beforehand. Be prepared, as they say. I'm sure you are already. Good luck!

I hope the interviews will go well. Good luck! Oxford, wow.
Slightly OT, but offices really can make you forget things. Before an oral exam I always asked for a description of the professor's room, so as I wouldn't get distracted by where I can put my purse or coat, or be mesmerised by a book. This works only though if you have a friend who takes the same exam earlier than you. Best book I discovered in a professor's room was Crime and Punishment, kept very appropriately in the office of our Criminal Procedural Law professor.

Aaw, thanks such a lot for posting that on the board, dear . Cruel Oxford people who cut off my internet did not win in the end, bwahaha ;D. Anyways, everyone, so I had two more interviews after that first one, and the first and the third went, in my opinion, really... well, really okay. Hardly any weird silences and the tutor(s) looked sort of okay with what I said... not sure, though. Second one was scarier, but the tutor was really friendly and I think it did not go too bad either. There was a lot of candidates, though, so please hope and/or pray for me . Thanks a huge lot! Love, Lies

Hey, my pleasure. And may I remind you that you want to go there cause you want to learn something? So I don't think they expected you to know everything - would have been rather ridiculous.
