Omg! I got my GCSE results today. They're exams you take at 16 in Britain for anyone who doesn't know. I'm so so so so so so so happy. A* is the highest grade for each and I got these:-
Mathematics - A* Engligh Language - A English Literature - B (Sigh) Dual award science - A*A* (Worth 2 GCSEs) Geography - A* ICT - A* Religious Studies - A French - A (Wish it had been A* but the exam was hard) Design and Technology (Resistant Materials for me) - A*
And I got a distinctiong in a word processing exam meaning I made 3 or less mistakes ;D
And yes I am really really hyper. I hope anyone else getting their results today is celebrating and happy too.

Good job!!! What does ICT stand for? We don't have this exam in the states-is is similar to the ACT or SAT, I wonder...?

Thanks!
I'm not too sure what it's similar to in the states, I don't quite recall, because you finish high school later than here, don't you?
ICT stands for information and communications technology. Computer stuff, basically.

Having refreshed my memory: You take Acts and SATs at 17/18, right? I hope I'm rightbecause if I am I understand In grade 12? Well, GCSEs are before that, and we may take A-levels which are much more comparable to ACTs and SATs at 18, which are the main decider for universities, which is what ACTs and SATs are for? Amy, hoping she has grasped the US school system ish...

well done!!! You should be proud! Just to add to the confusion, in australia you take your School Certificate at age 16 (grade 10), and then depending what state you live in, you either take your HSC/VCE/TE etc etc etc at teh grade 12 level.

ughh...too much info for my poor brain-just kidding! I did pretty well on those silly test thingys. We do graduate later (17/18), become legal later (21-not that we don't drink before then !) which is all very sad, but whatever.

Aww! Well we're legal at 18 but that doesn't stop the rest of us And thanks to mugglenet trying to explain GCSEs, they compare them to SATs in the US so there we go.

Well done everyone! Those tests are brutal. Are you going to sixth form?
Side note: GCSEs are comprable to the Advanced Placement (AP) exams in the states. AP tests are offered in nearly every subject and are graded on a national scale, and generally taken before SATs/ACT. And A-levels are really more comprable to the SAT IIs, which test in separate subjects. The SAT I and ACT are more general-the SAT I tests only math and verbal, with a writing section. Hope that clears up a bit!
