Okay, so we all know that the typical JKR!Minerva has lovely raven-black hair with maybe a tiny hint of gray in it due to her age.
But what about Maggie!Minerva?
If I'm not mistaken, I saw a picture of Maggie!Minerva with her hair down and it was gray-flecked auburn.
If you could decide for all fandom, what color would it be? You can choose gray-flecked for half price! ;D
Feel free to post explainations here. :3

Yeah I'd say Black..always thought she had black hair. But Minerva has to be old now so she'd have some grays especially with the Weasley twins you know you'd bond to get gray hairs from them.
Anyways in the movies usually it's always altered a bit but Maggie Smith does an excellent job of play Minerva McGonagall! SO I don't think it would matter but still...I like black hair with some grays

I'd say black with no grey at all, since it is cannon and Minerva's about 70ish which is young in wizarding terms.

I said black, because it's something typical from Minerva, she is still completely black and Albus is totally gray

Black. She strikes me as the type to have *completely* black hair. Immaculate *giggle*
I saw the scene in PoA when she had her hair down, and it struck me as being brown, going grey, which I found a bit odd. It could perhaps be Maggie's natural hair colour, which I have a feeling it may be (it vaguely looked that colour in CoS, it was just easier to see with it down), but I didn't think Maggie had her hair that long. If they used a wig, couldn't they use a black one as the book said?
When I first read PS my impression of Minerva was that she was around 45, so that strengthens the fact that she has black hair, and that she looks younger than she is and younger than a Muggle would.

I said raven black. Hmm... I'm not sure though. I liked it in the PoA movie, but I always thought it would be darker than that when I first read the book. (of course, when I first read the book, I thought Dumbledore and McGonagall should've been/were married )

I said pure plack because in my main fic "The Ancient and Dwindling House of Snape", and the oneshot that shares that canon, "A Jump in the Lake", I describe her as having black hair without any gray. I explain that she shares that trait with the rest of her mothers family-the Blacks. I think she probably does have some gray, but since I usually write that she doesn't, I'll stick with that.

Yeah, I'd go for black with grey specks. It goes most well with her animagus cat form.

Sorry to disappoint you Nemi but the brilliant Maggie Smith has aubun hair and your right she does have short hair..I personally always imagined Minerva to have black but greying hair. All that stress.....

Well strictly canon speaking, I say raven black. That's what I picture her with.
But for hte movies I don't mind her having lighter hair. I think Maggie might look a tad ghoulish with jet black hair. I have the same colouring as her, and from personal experience black hair is a no go on the alabaster red heads. Its just bizarre looking...
