I was reading old challenge tags and this was inspired by angeldust's Marmite response. (Which is really funny btw).
I am sensible, I HATE marmite with a passion. It's yucky. ;D

Vegemite toast is the best way to have vegemite. I remember an exchange student once who thought you were supposed to eat vegemite by itself. Ick! But on toast is awesome.

But they don't! That was the selling thing, you either love it or you hate it. And the advert had this big brown blob moving down the street, and some people ran and jumped into it, and others ran away screaming. Then they took it off because some little kid got scared *rolls eyes*

I remember that advert...and it must be true, because I've never met someone indifferent towards it. You either hate it or love it. Normally hate-that stuff is truly awful.

Never heard of that advert before! here in Australia the have had the same theme song for vegemite for centuries! lol! "We all love our vegemite, we all adore our vegemite, it puts a rose in every cheek!" It really is quite catchy.

ok so I appear to be the only one prepared to stand up for the wonderful food that is marmite. (although I did learn to appreciate vegemite when I lived in Australia). Yes it looks like tar and yes the smell is..um..unusual, but it is just one of those strange British institutions..(sorry feeling oddly patriotic today..will shut up now.)

Ok, I know I'm a little late to this party but this was the funniest conversation to read! I don't think it's actually possible to describe the taste of marmite. You can say 'yeast extract' but who knows what the hell that tastes like!? By the way - marmite is AMAZING stuff! Very sharp, very unusual. You can dull the taste with lots of butter on your toast too and it's a very different but equally goregeous taste. I gave to my friend once who had never tasted it and she was almost sick! She said it tasted like petrol! lol! It doesn't. ... I just made myself hungry ~ Mercury
