I wouldn't, I like the name but because I'd always relate it to a book character it would be too weird.

I dunno if I would or not. Maybe just as a middle name.
Then again, I may just get a nice tabby cat and name her Minerva. ;D

I've got a cat named Minerva *she's a tabby* and her 'husband' is named Albus *he's all white*. I even named their kids Aurora and Apollo after my favorite fic "Into the Lion's Den"

Coolness it's so sweet, don't people think you're weird? I definitely want a Minerva tabby cat, though.

The vet and my aunt think it's strange but my sister has a cat named Eb so it's nothing big to have weird cat names in our family. The really strange thing is that Albus and Minerva's personalitys are really close to their namesakes'. Like Min is all serious and Albus is the goof ball.

No, sadly, I wouldn't. That name is associated with so much already; I'd like to start with a fresh name, so my child could build her --own-- experiences, not have me foisting those of a book character upon her. It'd be a nice name for a cat... But I guess that, if I ever moved to, say, Greece... I'd maybe take a chance and have a child named Minerva.. But seeing as I'm planted firmly in Michigan...

I wouldn't name a child Minerva, except maybe as a middle name. It is a little too old fashioned and odd. Now a cat, yes I would name a cat Minerva.

I am not Quite sure... I guess I would name my daughter Minerva. I always have liked the name....and It is smybolic when you think about it. And not just as MM. One of the reasons I would name her that is because it is different...not something everyone else would have. I Hate the feeling in school when there is more than one Jennifer's.....I personally would like something different..... OKay I think I am done with my ramblings. =]

I voted maybe...I already have a lot of names picked out and I'm only planning on having two kids...although I'll most likely end up with half a dozen. I'll be like Lynette from DH!!! But I do like the name Minerva, not just because of HP. I also like the name Darcy for a girl...but I love the name Isabelle and I was thinking Olive Isabelle would be a cute name. You all may laugh but there was actually someone way back on my family tree by that name! James for a boy; my dad and his dad are both named James but they go by their middle names. I love that name and I wouldn't want it to be shortened to Jim or Jimmy. I think having a good name is important-my first name is my great grandmother's but my middle name (the name I use) is a boy's name and the name of the county where my dad was born. It has a lot of meaning and I prefer it to my first. Minerva is an unusual name but it has a lot of meaning too.

I really like the name Minerva... maybe a little bit old fashioned but, I would definitely name my child Minerva (and the best part of it is that my boyfriend agrees with that!!! "Minerva Sofia" *my mom cannot believe it yet*). A lot of people around me think I'm crazy too... It's really nice to see I'm not the only one! We'll create a new Minerva's generation! That means the name won't be old fashioned any more! ha ha Thanks beMMADfabulous for a great poll! Love, Isabel

I have an account on Gaia and I have a coco kitty plushie (all black) that I named Minerva and a Sno Yetti Plushie (all white) that I named Albus. And I just bought a Kiki kitty plushie (all white) that I named Liliana Margaret Natalie Jean Brodie Mckay Smith Macias. Is it obvious that I love Maggie Smith? Anyway, I always liked the name Minerva even before the books because of the goddess of wisdom. And it most certainly suits Professor McGonagall, no?

i'm thinking middle name. I like simple names for first names. THen again it would be the child's choice what they want to be called when they're older. But I do rather like the name.

No, it's a good name, and I love the meaning behind it, but it just seems a little too ... old-fashioned the wrong word but I'll use it for now. Not to mention it doesn't go very well with my last name. lol.
