I might. I love the name, the meaning behind it, everything. 'cept for the fact that Minerva don't go well with my surname. Perhaps Katherine. ;D

Not exactly Minerva.I do think of a shorter version of it, Minna. On the other hand,I hope for twins. ...Minna and Holly. I really like the names, but Minerva would be better for a pet. I've actually named one of my kittens Minerva

I like the name Minerva and I probably would consider it as a second name, but my sister told me she wouldn't talk to me ever again if I named my daughter like that. A rather unconventional second name would fit with our family too, my parents picked "Gerhild" for me, so Minerva doesn't sound that strange.

Thirty years ago I choose this name for our family sailboat; I had just read the old greek and roman legends and Athena/Minerva was and is my favourite goddess. We had this boat for 20 years and it gave us so many happy memories... My parents new boat is Kaliope, so a greek muse now. A "Minerva 2" would have been terrible. If I'll ever have a cat, i will name her Minerva, but for a girl to be named after the goddess of wisdom would be quite a burden, I suppose.

I absolutely love the name Minerva, and I would definitely consider it as a middle name. However, I am in love with the name Adelaide, and if I ever have a daughter, that will definitely be her name. If I have a second daughter, either her first or middle name will be Minerva. xD

No.
It's a great name. And I love the historical symbolism (not talking HP here!). But I don't think a child would appreciate it too much. I tend to like simple names for children and I've had a shortlist of options for years.
But Minerva would be a fantastic pet name, I think.

I don't think I would name my daughter Minerva. I might have it as a middle name, but not a first name.

My little stepsister Aspen that I had no clue I even had asked this girl at my school if she knew who I was and then I found her big sister on myspace and all that stuffs but long story short I found out her mommy's name is Minerva!

I might, because it's the Roman goddess of wisdom, and I'm in love with the name anyways

I would. My name is Minerva Aurora. I have always been fond of my name. Minerva does mean "Goddess of Wisdom" I also think it's different. Though if I were to give my daughter either my first or middle name I would give her Aurora. It seems to flow a bit easier. So, I would still say yes to naming a child Minerva. Take care sweet ones. ~Silver Tabby

I would name my child Minerva, it's different.I really dont like it when 2 or 3 other people in my class have the same name as me, it gets confusing at times. I am also a fan of mythology. Minerva is the Roman goddes of wisdom, so I have liked the name before I even read the Harry Potter books.

I would. I understand that a lot of people wouldn't like to give a child an old-fashioned name, but I'm the opposite. Personally, I think giving a child an unique, but pretty name like Minerva for instance does give them their own identities. Can't tell you how many Jennifers, Ashleys, Kaitlyns, and Shelbys I know. My first name is Jenna and thankfully it isn't that popular, but people are constantly thinking it's short for Jennifer (which it isn't). And there are way too many simple common names in my family so I prefer more unique ones. One of my aunts (through marriage) is the only one in my family who doesn't do common names over and over like mine does. Her kids are Kelsey Rose and Delaney Hope. I've met only a few other Kelseys and I don't know any other Delaneys.
Plus, if the kid doesn't like their name, they can always just use a nickname or change it.
So yeah...sorry about the long rant. I would consider Minerva, but I already have lots of other names considered. I did name one of my dolls that though.

I couldn't name my child Minerva, despite the fact it is a beautiful name...it's the name of a greek goddess and I would want my daughter to have a name with better meaning...nothing against mythology...
