I don't really think I can convey to you just how excited this post made me. I am crying, OK? And laughing. And it's like, midnight, so that's not so good. *clings to you* I was so tired of being alopne (on this board) in my GG/AD/MM thing. Not in the threesome sense , although I have considered the possibility. Although, I do rather disagree on the subject of Albus' sexual orientation. He's strikes me as very "free love." But yes. I. Love. You. I can't... They should have sent... a poet... Can I marry you? I've seen your user name over on LJ Grindedore. What are some other places for ADGG? As far as Albus' sexual orientation, I really think he's genuinely bi-, but I know that bi- is a problematic category for some. Some days I think he may well have been celibate in later years, either out of total devotion to his work and causes and knowing the risks to any partners, or out of guilt over his relationship w/ GG. Esp. if GG was his first significant relationship, when it blew up so badly it might have really scarred him as far as sexual and romantic intimacy... If he was still so remorseful about Ariana 130 yrs later that he picked up a horcrux, he could well have been deeply scarred in other ways too. Other days I'm more like you--I'm sure he had to know a lot about love from personal experience. And if I just put my fingers in my ears and ignore DH and Jo's interviews, I can imagine him totally devoted to Minerva for decades. As for your wanting to marry me, I'm exceedingly flattered. Alas, I'm also hopelessly straight!

O rily? And just who are you over at Grindeldore? If esoterica1693, ignore this inquiry.
Ditto on the scarring. Bumbles = fragile baby bird. Fo shizzle.
Alas, I have found only LJ.
As for the marriage thing, so am I, but what has that got to do with anything?

Why isn't Pomona/Filius an option? I love reading stories about them, especially when they have just a hint of ADMM in them. There are people on the Charming Roots board who would be very angry that this adorable couple is not here.

ADMM is my only ship of those up there. I'm another "odd ship " person in that I adore Minerva/Hermione,although nowhere near as much as ADMM.I've read some lovely fics of that pairing. I also love Draco/Hermione. That's definitely my fave kid ship.

I read one really nice Minerva/Hermione fic, but then I thought about the age difference. And I got squicked.

Yeah, the age difference put me off too at first, but then it occured to me that Albus and Min actually have about 80 years between them too.

I don't think it matters too much with them because they're both older. But Hermione's like my age, and I really don't want to imagine myself, or anyone else my age with someone that age. Not that I have anything against people of that generation, I think they're totally cool.

Not that I have anything against people of that generation, I think they're totally cool. So, just out of curiousity, would you be okay with Hermione, for example, being with Minerva, if she were say 30 and and Minerva, 100? (Or is it 90?) The age difference would still remain, but she would be older. It'd be kind of like Albus and Minerva... If they were canon. And hey, I am all for Aphelion's His First Mistake to be canon! Btw, I do, sort of, agree with you but it would depend a lot on the person actually. I mean, if Ian McKellen walked in my front door and asked me out... (Pretend he's not gay. Lol) I think I would say yes, when I remembered how to talk and he's about 45 years older than me.

Or, you could just be like me and stand by your belief that Minerva is 38, 40 at tops. I mean, what would JKR know about the ages of her characters?

Well, if she was around 40, and Hermione were of age (whatever that may be) then, I imagine people may talk about it, but it wouldn't be considered as 'bad' as a young girl and a 70 year old woman. But again, even though I understand why people might think a age difference is significent, I do believe the people involved do make the rules in the end. As for what JKR knows about her characters... I can't speak for that. Though I am easily persuaded because I am fickle.

Sir Francis Drake's Heir, I'm esoterica1693 on LJ too but haven't posted anything to Grindeldore. I'll probably just lurk there. If we got married my cats would be horribly jealous... --Esoterica1693

I don't actually tend to care about the ages of characters. I see as a story and if it is plausible and written well, I will read it. If it is not, I'll close the window and search again. I admit, the only Minerva/Hermione writer I read is 'OwlOfAthena'. That girl is beyond brilliant.
As for other pairings. I write nearly every pairing you can think of (with the expection of femmeslash - I tried once but I'm just no good at it). Minerva/Ron (de-aging potion involved before people are grossed out), Minerva/Remus (*insert 'aww'*), Minerva/Sirius, Minerva/Harry, Minerva/Severus, Minerva/Albus (before I went off ADMM) and my new favourite pairing, Minerva/Fred.
Basically, why the hell not. Minerva will always be 'Miss Jean Brodie in a witch's hat' to me. I love Maggie Smith when she says things like that.

Ditto with ages. It doesn't bother me either. It just happens to be that they are at whatever age they're at.
Interesting pairings. I've read only two of them, besides Minerva and Albus, though I don't know if the Minerva/Severus one was a ship fic. It was an excellent read though.
And I have to admit, I have not seen the Jean Brodie movie. I'm planning on heading down to my video store and renting a whole lot of movies to watch... When that'll be, I don't know.
