Does anyone have any thoughts or guesses as to whither Hogwarts will be open in the 7th book?
I'm sorry if this has already been posted, I did not take the time to look through the old polls.
I personally think it won't be open, after all Harry said he would want to go back even if it did, and who wants to focus on a school the main character is no longer a part of? At the same time I want it to be open and I want to know how McGonagall will handle being the new Headmistress of Hogwarts.

I have to say no. I don't think it will open. Though I really hope it will. I don't think Minerva will have it open. Everybody will be too busy fighting Voldemort and the Death Eaters.

I'm going to say yes...because I think Hogwarts is still the safest place for kids, esp those between the ages of 11 and 14 and that their education will be put first. The older students may decide to leave. I also think that Hogwarts might become a safehouse of some kind or somethng else in addition to just a school.

I think it will be open. Even if the trio aren't there and it isn't central to the book, I can't imagine it not being open.

Albus would have kept if open...I'm hoping Minerva and the board of governors will.

I'm hoping the school will be open, but at this rate it doesn't look so good. Although, my friends think the school will be open as a safe-haven.

My guess is that the school will open for all the reasons already stated above. But also because there might be another horcrux hidden in the castle . Also because he might need something from Minerva - she has the most knowledge about the castle now Dumbledore is gone.
Plus, I think Ron and hermione might go back to school, to take their final exams, as doe the others who have been allies of Harry, Neville for instance.
Harry will need people from the school, Hagrid for instance. Also, the school has been his home for the past years, he might want to return there anyway.
And beside all of this, there is my ever racing fanfiction mind going: this is where Harry will find out the magical bond between the old Headmaster and his Deputy - he will find out the love that blossomed in the round office.
James and Lily fell in love on Hogwarts as well, just like Ron and Hermione (yes, I know) and Arthur and Molly...
Wow what a post...

I just think that Hogwarts is still very important to the plot and that Harry will go back to get some type of info. (other than the ADMM marriage certificate of course...)

I think that Hogwarts will be open but not as a school. I don't really know how to explain it but Hogwarts is so much a part of the books I don't think JK can cut it out compleatly. One thing is for sure all of the normal characters are going to be there, including the teachers Harry needs them to help fight He-who-must-not-be-named

Yes. It's the safest place to be and students still need to learn.

I'm not sure whether Hogwarts will reopen or not but I hope so. The kids would be safest there and they need to learn how to defend themselves. It would be foolish to have it closed.
I'm quite sure that Harry will have to go to Hogwarts (although I'm not sure if he'll return as a student) because there mght be a horcrux or someone he needs advise from, e.g. Dumbledore's portrait, Minerva or Hagrid.

I think it will be open. I can't imagine Minerva deciding to close it. The board of governors or the Ministry, maybe, but not Minerva. I think she'd see it as an insult to Dumbledore.
I expect that Harry will be running around elsewhere for most of the book, but he has to go to Hogwarts at some point.

The Deluxe edition cover art shows Ron and Hermione in black robes, albeit much the worse for wear, so I'm thinking yes.

The books were written as a set of seven because Hogwarts goes through seven years. So I believe the school has to reopen, otherwise she could write as many volumes as she wanted. And how will we meet Neville, Ginny, Luna, Hagrid, McGonagall, or any one else who is still at Hogwarts? This characters are important and she wouldn't just drop them because Harry doesn't want to go back to Hogwarts. I believe she also mentions that there will be a new DADA teacher that year, and how can we meet him/her if the school closes? Cara McKenzie for Radio Forth - Every year since Harry has been to Hogwarts the defence against the dark arts teacher has left Hogwarts or died every year. Does that mean that something will stop Snape from being the defence against the dark arts in book 7?
JK Rowling: Yes. I really can't say more than that. That is because one of those questions that is a very good question and everyone would like to know the answer but it gives a lot away. There must obviously be a new one.

I think that for me the main reason why I've enjoyed the books so much was all the fun you can only have at school. Can you imagine the setting being anything else but Hogwarts? With fanged frisbees, canary cream and Monster Book of Monsters? I know it's been getting more and more serious but these parts have always been the best. So it may and may not reopen, who knows. But I'll be very disappointed if it doesn't
