What do you think is the worse name for males JKR has come up with? I really dislike Albus Severus (poor kid) but I think Scorpius is much worse.

I don't like Albus Severus. I do feel bad for the poor child with that name though.

Lucius. While many of the other names could be embarrassing or difficult to deal with, only Lucius is so closely connected with the Devil. How harsh is it to name your child after Satan!?

Albus Severus. Pity the child who has such a name. Although it's really unique, it's a handful.

As a Welsh person,Aberforth sounds like the name of a town to me.It's unbelievable how many towns and villages in Wales begin with "Aber..."

Albus Severus. Gahh, all of the Trio's children's names sounds like something made up in fanfiction rather than JK's canon.

Albus Severus definitely; at least with Scorpius you might be able to do something reasonably cool with it and there a host of nicknames that stem from it, but Albus Severus just doesn't work at all. It's so clunky to try and say.
Why didn't one of them name their child 'Fred'? That would have been okay.

definitely Albus Severus, how cruel to be named after two heroes of the resent past, the boy will never be able to live up to his name. Besides it sounds just weird.

Hugo just threw me off the chair - it is such an great-grandfather-name in Germany, I have no idea how Hermione and Ron should have come up with that!

I just looked up the meaning of the name Lucius. In fact the name isn't really connected to the devil at all. It means something like the radiant, coming from the Latin word lux = light. According to the site I found the name three popes choose the name Lucius.

While I don't much like the sound of "Albus Severus Potter" (and with the initials "ASP," he would be an appropriate member of Slytherin), I figure that the kid could go by some shortened version of either his first or middle name. And although neither name ("Albus" or "Severus") sounds particularly "modern" or youthful, a lot of the names JKR has the wizarding world use are either old-fashioned or downright peculiar sounding (even when they are names from the classics -- Latin & Greek).
Despite the jarring sound of those two names together, I still picked "Scorpius." I just think it's ugly, hard, strange, whatever. A lot of the others just sound kind of old-fashioned, like "Hugo," "Aberforth," "Albus," etc., but I can imagine meeting some ordinary person who had one of those names. "Scorpius" reminds me of the strange names that a lot of celebrities come up with for their kids (as if being a child of a celebrity weren't difficult enough! I mean, come on, "Dweezil"? Or, heaven help the guy, "I.P. Freely" Carradine?) -- but not only is "Scorpius" unusual, it also (to my ear) sounds ugly. The names "Apple" or "Moon Unit" may be a bit kooky or unusual, but they don't sound ugly to me. So my vote went to "Scorpius."
I always kinda liked the name "Lucius." I'd never name a kid of mine that, but I liked it. I think that JKR did intend there to be some kind of subconscious (or conscious) reminder of "Lucifer," but I don't equate the two names. I also figured it went along with a lot of the "star" references in pureblood first names, particularly among the Blacks, since stars are light (duh), and "Lucius" reminds me of "lux," "light." Still, particularly nowadays, I wouldn't name a boy "Lucius," and not because of the HP books and the unpleasant Lucius in them, but because he'd probably be teased by being called "Lucy." Still, that would be better than "I.P. Freely" . . .

Albus Severus. Gahh, all of the Trio's children's names sounds like something made up in fanfiction rather than JK's canon. I quite agree, sentimental, mary-sue-ness. Much as one can appreciate the respect behind the theory it seems a departure from JK's usual inventiveness!

Albus Severus. That's just mean. And particularly reminiscent of bad fanfiction, as already pointed out.

Scorpius! I'm fine with Albus Severus, though I agree that it would be a burden for poor Al to carry such a burden, lol! Hmm, yes, JK could've come up with better names! But Scorpius is just ... ughh! I don't like it at all, even Dolores is better (and I seriously hate that name, lol, maybe because of the general dislike of Umbridge herself)
Cheers!

I think Scorpius is an awesome name! I mean, I'd probably hate to be called that, or call my kids that, but it sounds so cool! Then again, I am actually a Scorpio, so I may be a little bit biased.

Albus was a nice sweet man...Severus was a greasy serious man...therefore the name is too ironic to be good...
