It might seem an odd question but I'm promising fluff in return for help ;D
What gives people hiccoughs? Because I have no idea at all and I really need a reason or two.
Thanks to anyone who can help,
Amy

Found these causes on Wikipedia:
eating too quickly, taking a cold drink while eating a hot meal, eating very hot or spicy food, laughing vigorously or coughing, or drinking an excess of an alcoholic beverage

I don't know about causes, but laughing makes my hiccups worse.

The biology part is something to do with a spasm of the diaphragm, no?
Thank you everyone, I'm sure I can work one or two of them in.

Yep, it's a spasm of the diaphragm. I remember that from Biology too.
