This will sound like an amazingly random question but...
When do Summer holidays in the UK start? I'm writing a fic and I need to know the date and being Australian everything is different! Urghh! So yes...if anyone could tell me that date it would be much appreciated (and the chapter will get written faster!) lol
Also: Is Harry's birthday the 31st of June or July?

Thats a difficult question...It varies between local education authorities (the board that has responsibility for education in each county). But in England the sumer holiday tends to start between 20-25 of July and end 1-3 Sept. In Scotland however, I think it's a little earlier from about 28 June-3 July until about 18-22 Aug. Private (or public as we call them over here) schools are different again. They set their own holidays but they follow roughly the state schools, except perhaps being a few days longer. The thing is though, Hogwarts is rather a law onto itself, so I don't know. If term in Hogwarts starts on September 1st (which it does) then I'd assume it was similar to English holiday dates and not Scottish ones. I'd look in the books but I can't  |

If Harry's birthday is the 31st of July and that's the holidays then Hogwarts must start before that. Hmmm....they get to start on the 25th. And if any of you were wondering why I needed this info its for my timetravel fic *X-files music* lol

Well, I can just say that in Belgium, school starts again on September 1st and the holidays start on July 1st. Always found that a very neat system . |

Public schools have about eight weeks for the summer holidays rather than the 'state school' six... that would probably encompass Harry's birthday!
But! Minniequill - this is fanfic! You write it girl, and hell, we'll believe it!
Note that in ALL my fics I stay waaay clear of mentioning any dates - festivals, sure, - but never dates. I'm simply not smart enough to keep them all straight in my head!
