HI!
As I'm sure many people know, I get plot bunnies all too easily and have a real problem getting them all into writing and on the web. I would like a beta from the boards to help me out with a couple of fics, for both beta'ing and to bounce ideas off of.
The one-shot (originally a drabble, but now a bit too long) is called "Aichmophobia". Despite the title, it doesn't actually deal with the serious phobia, it's more a piece of funny fluff about Albus trying to escape Poppy and her needle.
The longer fic is unrelated and much more angsty. For a while I’ve wondered about JKR's portrayal of Harry in regard to his upbringing. It just doesn’t seem realistic to me. Someone with his life should have had a breakdown long before Sirius’ death. All right, it’s supposed to be a children’s book and all that, but it still annoys me just a tiny bit. So I try and write a more psychologically-realistic Harry in fanfiction. And this time, I have at last a fic that feels more realistic, without actually altering past events – just offering a new perspective of them.
The idea is, Harry has a guardian angel who, unknown to him, helps him from behind a cover and cushions the worst of his pain. This angel is called Minerva McGonagall. Unfortunately, she's fallen for Albus, which is against the rules because he's a mortal. When Voldemort finds all this out, he informs her superiors, who have her stripped of her magic and dumped in the Muggle world. Harry, now missing the subconcious comfort just when he needs it most (now Sirius has died), has the mental breakdown everyone's been waiting for (but hoping would never happen).
If you can only take one-shots at the mo but are interested in Aichmophobia, by all means take it on and someone else can have Touch of an Angel.
