This movie is great. I love it! I know some older people that have been friends forever. I>E> My grandmother and her sunts have bben through thinck and thin, and sometimes they get as cynical and sarcastic as these women.
I thought Maggie did an excellant job at this. But it is very hard to do really deep southern Accents and make them sound genuine. I'm a southeast Alabama girl and I've had people accuse me of acting my accent, but it's real I swear! As for Maggie, I think she did really well though she did slip up a time or two.
One of my favorite parts is at the end where they are dancing. I also love when Maggie hits the others lady with the dish towel. And when she gets the banana peel thrown at her. Maggie is just hilarious!

Oh lord thank god for Maggie in this movie I LOVED HER! My school's marching band is doing a show to raise money to go to Six Flags (*dances*) and my band teacher said we could do the date rape drug thing from the movie so I've like stolen pratically my Aunt Jerry's copy of the DVD and watched it a gizzlion times! (have to say my accent sucks though even if I do get to be Caro I'm so not gonna be able to do Maggie justice)

Question: Should I read them in order (little altars..., divine secrets..., yayas in bloom) or is ist just as effective to read them in any order?

I read "The Divine Secrets" first, then "Little Altars," then "Yayas in Bloom." I don't think it matters which order you read them in - I read them in the order that they were published.

I just love the movie, I have seen it of course in both english and german and like always (ok, almost) it's better in english . I always think that something is missing in the translation... *dunno* ;p

I thought Little Altars was first? Everywhere I look says that came out first. Could be wrong though... I just really want to start reading them lol

I've only seen bits of this movie but what I saw was pretty funny. It's pretty much exactly what happens when my mother and a bunch of her friends get together. The humour is so dry and sarcastic; though the real-life conversations are funnier than on 'Divine Secrets.' I am seriously considering writing a book and just recording these get-togethers and typing them word-for-word.
