hey guys! i have only recently joined this site and haven't been on it for a while as i've gone back to university for my second year on a course called contemporary theatre and performance.
the reason i wanted to speak to some people from san fransisco is because i have just been given an assignment to do with a piece of theatre we have to make to do with different time zones and i was assigned san fransisco! if you could drop me a line that would be fantastic and i could then explain more fully...i really would appreciate it
thank you cat xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

My best friend is a theatre major who just moved from San Francisco to Seattle last month. She might be able to help you out. What exactly is your project, maybe I could put you in touch with her? Amandah Leigh

thanks for the response i really appreciate it!
the bloke who is taking us for this part of the course (compositional strategies) has been very vague with what the outcome will be! the only information we have been given is that in three weeks we will have a performance based on different time zones!!!!
basically i would need to ask your friend some questions about her life in san francisco (and don't worry it wouldn't be anything personal) anbd then ask if they would mind sending me a letter so we have something physical from a different time zone to use in the performance...i know how weird this sounds and im trying to get in touch with the lecturer to see if he could give me more information so i could pass it on!
i completely understand if no one would want to get involved 'coz it sounds so crazy but i hope that i could get some help!
thanks very much again cat xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

right, i've emailed the bloke in charge of this project askin him to give me a clerer insight into what the final piece will entail so this is what he said...
Well, this a good and timely question. At the moment I would say (and of course I might have changed my mind by the time we perform it in 4 weeks) that the project is exploring several themes:
Our relationship with time, and this idea that there is a ‘right’ time, when of course time is different all around the world, all at the same moment; and even this is artificial as the 1 hour timezone boundaries are a simplified version of what is actually happening. The relationship between distance and time, and what happens when you cross a timeline in one direction or the other (I think this is where the planes come in). An exploration of the differences and similarities in the lives of a completely disparate and random collection of people – the details of day-to-day experiences that are recognisable across international boundaries, and those that make us realise how different peoples life experiences are. The ‘somewhere in the world’ game cannot help but be coloured by our own experience and events we see on TV; I’m interested in what first hand communication from other people around the world will tell us about that. More fundamentally, it’s about the idea that at any given moment, every other human being on the planet is alive and doing something, experiencing something, feeling something. (Hippy).
i hope that clears up any queries...thanks once again cat xxx

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you. I was out of town for a week and had no computer access. I'm at work right now and they bliock myspace, so after I get home I will try to contact my friend so that she can contact you. Her name is Elanya (should be easy to find, I doubt there are too many other Elanya's, lol). Good luck, and I hope it's not too late! AL
