Well, if you can't tell from the title, I'm thinking about writing a book. I've read a million and one Regency romances, and I absolutely adore them, and tonight, I thought to myself, "Why not try to write one?!" I wanted to run this by my fellow board members, many who know a lot more than me about writing a book, and can (hopefully!) give me advice, whether it's about my writing in particular or with some ideas. I'd really appreciate all of your imput, because I value you as writers and readers. Be honest, please, but no flames. I, believe it or not, don't like them. lol Just.. If you have any ideas, pointers, helpful hints, etc.... I'd really enjoy hearing them Thank you soo much, Kate

Hey there, I've done NaNoWriMo last year and the year before (aka: write a book of at least 50000 words in one month... madness, I know) and well, I think I'd like to read what you come up with. I quite like Regency novels and all . Writing a historical novel takes a nuts amount of research though, encountered that last year... goodness . Love, Lies

Your writing is wonderful, I'd give it a try!
It's definitely frustration at times though. Writer's block is horrible I've found. I've started at least two novels myself, and have yet to finish either one. However, I did finally finish a screenplay, and it's very rewarding when it's all done. So I guess my "words of wisdom" (haha) would be to not give up, cause it's worth it in the end.
Good Luck, and I'd love to read it! *Lizz

Thanks, you two. I wrote down a few names, etc. today, and I'm at a bit of a loss as to which to use. I've drawn out a plot I think is alright and would be workable, and I'm getting kind of excited, although I dread the research part that you mentioned, Lies. It's so hard to find anything like titles held at the time I'm writing, although I haven't tried really, really! hard yet... For more on plot, etc., you can PM me. I don't want to dull the board by posting my ramblings on here. ^_^

I agree with furandfeathers never give up even if you feel liked tearing it up and that your muse is lost forever do not give in! I'd love to read and would be very happy to give lots of imput back if you would allow me too

The best advice I can come up with: Don't give up. Some other things: It might help to establish the world you're working with... key places, characters, and that sort of thing. Write a description of each of your main characters, with their personality and such... say where it's set, and a loose plot outline. I find it helps to include minor details, like names of shops and what they sell, and whereabouts they are, and in which city, and also a description of each city and what it's famous for. It's sort of like writing out a vocabulary list for a language. Try that and good luck, I hope to read what you write
