We're still in! Beckham actually scored! And we're playing terribly but we are still in, and we *should* beat Portugal after the Holland/Portugal fiasco with the ref and some of them can't play.
And I don't even like football, but woo! GO ENGLAND!
But I'm working Saturday, I'll miss the match. *sighs*

Yes! I can't believe we're actually still in--and I'm really excited for Saturday. Sadly, I've got work as well, but I have the sneaking suspicion that everyone else will be watching it on laptops..so we'll see.

Hopefully we'll do well enough that you can catch the good bits on replays.

Yeh, it's not usually my thing, but even I found myself getting up at 2am to watch Australia's matches! I'm impressed that we made it to the top 16 seeing as the Socceroos usually don't even qualify for the world cup, but am disappointed they lost to Italy because they played SO well that game! Oh well, always next time!

I hope we will win tomorrow! Argentina didn't play that great in the last games, so we have a good chance. Actually, I'm surprised we made it this far because before the world cup we played horribly. Fortunately that changed!!! Go Germany!!!!!!

You're so lucky, being in Germany and all. *le sigh*
Good luck. Hopefully see you in the final, I suppose. Though not really cos you'll win, especially if it goes to penalties... Oh dear.

WE WON!!!! *dances around* Another great boost for the German ego Finally we start to develop some kind of pride for our country! Yesterday I saw 35 cars with flags on my way to the supermarket (about 500 meters)! A year ago one was thought to be too patriotic when he owned a flag

Although I live in Belgium I always supported for England. I was so sad when they lost from Portugal. But I swear, Portugal didn't deserve to win! England played very well and all because of those stupid penalties... grrr! I hope France beats Portugal! Go Germany and France!

I don't care who wins as long as it's not Portugal, if they do it'll be like Euro 2004 all over again.
In my sweep stake I got Côte d'Ivoire. So I have not other loyalties since they were out first round I think.

I still can't believe that Germany lost to Italy!!! I was amazed they won out of sheer luck though. Germany will just have to settle for third place this year

i know, everybody is tired of it, but Seeing the celebrations, I can only say: Thank God, we didn't win the World Cup. I think, Germany wouldn't recover for months . But I'm very sorry not to be un Stuttgart tonight, or in Berlin...the party would be incredible... ;D The World visiting with Friends and loving it themselves...it was/is a fantastic party

So I'm a little late in getting to this topic, but I was in Germany staying with a host family, so it would have been rude to always be checking the board.
I have to say that before I went to germany I had no interest in soccer and still think it's a boring game, but after being sucked into it for a month literally, it' growing on me a bit and I found myself getting really into it when we watched the Half-Final between Germany and Italy at the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart. Boy was that awesome! I was so disappointed to see Germany lose, especially after all they did during the game. We were hoping it would have gone to a shoot-out since Italy's goalie isn't too hot during shoot outs.
"your words in God´s ear...but I won´t eat pizza or spagetti for at least a month now" Tanja, it's funny you say this, because that's exactly what my host family did! My host sisters are the ones who made the executive decision not to eat anything italian. They called it "the pizza strike"
I am sure they will do the same again now that Italy has won the whole kit and caboodle!
