I read in the METRO the other morning that Dame Mags is to star in one of two new dramas on the Beeb by Stephen Poliakoff. Michael Gambon will be in the other one. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/11/10/ntv110.xmlPoliakoff is high end UK TV drama - really great stuff, and has worked with Gambon before, and with Maggie on stage. Loads of other Harry Potter actors have worked with him, including Miranda Richardson (Rita Skeeter) and Timothy Spall (Peter Pettigrew). So keep your eyes peeled!

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D...YAY..... Wow great news Maggie hasn't done any TV work in the UK since the late 90's... I think her last role was as Betsy Trottwood in David Copperfield. (Daniel Radcliffe played the young David if I remember rightly.) In fact quite a few HP actors were in it .

Just a quick brag, but I am lucky enough to be going to the cast and crew screening of Capturing Mary tonight, and will give the low-down on the film when I get back, if anyone's interested.
And if I bump into Mags, I'll ask her what she thinks about Albus being gay!

It was great. Maggie wasn't there, but Poliakoff and the girl who played the young Maggie were. I didn't have the guts to go up to him and gush about how much I love his stuff.
Anyway, the drama itself will not dissappoint. It's pretty deep Maggie stuff, lots of opportunity for her to show her talents - and not as a strict school maam or crotchety old lady this time. She hardly has any makeup on, so you can see right into her - her eyes and her facial expressions are incredible. I found it much darker than Poliakoff's usual stuff, but with the same sense of lost memory/nostalgia. David Walliams was bloody creepy as the man who stole her talant.
For those in the UK, it's on BBC2 on 12th November. Enjoy!

Ohh thanks for this news I'm really looking forward to it. I've already seen adverts for the one with Micheal Gambon I belive it's called Joe's palace or Joes mansion.

That's right, Joe's Palace. It's on on 10th November on BBC1. There's a connection between Joe's Palace and Capturing Mary, apparently: 1 is Joe himself, the young lad who looks after the house, and 2 the house, where all the past happenings take place. I haven't seen the adverts for Joe's Palace yet, so not sure what it's about exactly, but I eagerly await both!

You're right! Joe's Palace is on BBC1 on 4th November, not the 10th. This will sound a bit poncy, but I got the 10th from Polikoff himself at the screening. Fancy not knowing when your films are going out...

I just watched Joe's palace and I was wondering what everyone else thought of it. I really enjoyed it for the first half an hour or so I really didn't think I would but then it all came together and it was just fabulous and so moving. The characters were all so wonderfully odd and I've definately gained a new respect for Michael Gambon who did such a great job I do so adore his voice. Can't wait for next weeks with Maggie Smith

*jumps up and down* I saw a trailer for Capturing Mary on BBC1 just after EastEnders tonight!!! It was quite odd,I wasn't even looking at the TV and I heard this voice and I thought "That's Maggie Smith!" and I've only heard her talk in her normal voice about three times in my life so I was amazed when I turned around and it actually WAS Maggie Smith. It looks really good, actually.
