I watched the clip on furandfeather's xanga that was the making of. Alan Rickman about made me melt even when he was talking about blood flying! That man's voice should be bottled and sold. lol I do worry it will be more of a horror film than I ever considered the musical to be, though I am willing to wait and see.  |

I saw a school production and absolutely loathed it BUT (before I get clobbered by many of you) I am really looking forward to the movie version. I'd see it anyway because of Alan Rickman (saw Die Hard again, and fell in love with him. AGAIN) not to mention Helena-Bonham Carter who I've liked as an actress since 'Room with a View.'
Teeny-boppers and a fairly gruesome musical really don't mix.

I think the killing scenes, like everything else Burton does, were done as art. I hope so. Otherwise, he just ran short on his budget and had to use ketchup instead of more realistic blood. ...  Oh! and Helena Bonham Carter? She's about the sexiest woman alive, I can't even stand it. There was this one scene where her cleavage was perfectly lit but her face was in shadows. You just know they did that on purpose. |

because it's dark comedy/satire, the killing scenes were not suppossed to be real, they were to convey the idea of slaughter and messy death. The only people whose blood DIDN'T squirt everywhere were Sweeney and his wife, the two people who were at peace with death and welcomed it with open arms. Very symbolic, very artistic, very Sondheim/Burton.

I wouldn't reccomend watching it if you haven't already seen it. Bad picture, it cuts off right before the ending, so you can't exactly finish it. BUT if you're having Sweeney Todd withdrawls (like me), then this is very resourceful. |

okay, well, i have never found alan rickman that hot
...before this movie, that is. although he played a creeper, he was an EXTREMLY SEXY creeper.
and johnny depp was just...just....*squee*!!
yea, i pretty much screamed for like 10 minutes when the movie started because i was so excited and 10 minutes when it ended becuase i loved it so much.
it was amazing
