I hope this question hasn't been addressed in a previous thread, 'cause I'm too lazy to dig it up. And studying for a test on The Taming of the Shrew waits for NO ONE. Obviously.
So yeah. What kind of music do you all listen to? There have been several music-related polls lately, so I'm just curious. Like if you have/had an mp3 player, what is/would be on there? Gimme genres, artists, one-hit wonders, guilty pleasures, anything.
5 songs I'm currently digging: 1) They Might be Giants - No! 2) Paul McCartney - Maybe I'm Amazed 3) Radiohead - Paranoid Android 4) Journey - Don't Stop Believing (IT NEVER GETS OLD) 5) The White Stripes - Icky Thump
I like rock. I stick with rock, and pop-y kind of things. And despite being from Atlanta, I abhooooor the stuff people listen to around here (oh no, I'm not an elitist in the slightest). Country, urban, and things fiddled with and mixed to the point where the singer's voice is unidentifiable and generic =/= music to me. I do enjoy music tinged or "fused" with the above, though. Like Ryan Adams. Totally my current favorite artist. And indie, also, including Ben Gibbard's entourage (DCFC, The Postal Service) and the Appleseed Cast. Disney soundtracks (A Goofy Movie is the best!!!) and other soundtracks (Finding Neverland, Across the Universe, OotP). Piano rock (Coldplay, Ben Folds, Augustana, The Fray). Some nice emo like The Starting Line, Jimmy Eat World, and Something Corporate. Muse and Radiohead. Easy listening stuff like John Mayer, Snow Patrol, U2, and The Beatles.
Oh yeah, for some reason, I have a hard time listening to female vocals. Probably the only female artist I really like is Imogen Heap. I don't know why. :/
My mp3 player also houses select chapters of the HP audiobooks read by Stephen Fry. ;D
Sorry, I just went on and on forever!

I have an insane taste of music and there is no way I could narrow it down to certain genres.
I love Bruce Springsteen and am going to be broke after I pay to see him in concert.
I adore Judy Garland - all the songs she sings have so much emotion in them. 'Danny Boy,' 'Fly Me to the Moon', 'Smile' and 'Rock-A-Bye Your Baby with a Dixie Melody' sung by Garland is just amazing. I am going through a muscial phase at the moment, so most songs from 'Easter Parade', 'A Star is Born' (one of the best movies in history), "A Wizard of Oz,' 'Singin' in the Rain', 'My Fair Lady' and 'Meet Me in St Louis' are on my laptop; along with every song from the Carnagie concert CD that I bribed my father to buy me.
Fastball is reasonable (the song 'The Way' is good anyway; some of their other stuff is dodgy.) I LOVE 'Cold Chisel' and the song 'Friday on my Mind' (can't remember who the artist is). Queen's 'Somebody to Love' is great, but about the only Queen song I like.
Frank Sinatra is pretty good (especially when he sings with Judy Garland or Ella Fitzgerald - not that I'm slightly obsessed or anything ...). Liza Minelli's 'Try to Remember' is beautiful and I did go through a James Blunt phase and still like him a lot. Vika and Linda are great and I love, love, LOVE Tracey Chapman.
All right, I'm stopping there. lol

I LOVE Indie so much. I'm quite into new-indie, but I like old-indie too I'm just into fewer old-indie bands. I love The Killers, and The Fratellis who are completely amazing live, Franz Ferdinand, The Magic Numbers, Oasis, Blur a bit, Razorlight, I like both Muse and Radiohead but they're both bands I need to make more effort to listen to more of their stuff, Snow Patrol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Zutons are okay. Pulp. Pulp are amzing. Ooh and Coldplay, and The RHCP.
I like rock, I love Queen and David Bowie. My guilty pleasure is 80s pop, one-hit wonders, love songs and Elton John. Ahem. Oh and I love Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler and anything like that I grew up listening to because of my parents.
And I love My Chemical Romance. They are completely amazing, I only got into them recentley, and I suppose since they are a bit Emo they could be a guilty pleasure.
I actually quite like jazz as background music. Blame my Dad. No one specific though.

I hae a rather insane choice of music. Anything ranging from those in the 50s to alternative rock. I can't stand 60s music though. The 70s are rather nice. A few of my favorite artists are : Judy Garland, Micheal Buble, Enrique Iglesias, Queen, Gwen Stefani, a little of Britney Spears, REM, Linkin Park, Gaelic Storm, Ciscar, Within Temptation, Enya, the soundtrack from 'All about eve', Catatonia, PCD, CCR, Nicholas Teo, Twins, Frank Sinatra and... I love Evanescence. Seriously. I just love My Last breath and Snow white queen. I like to listen to anything by Bethovaan and Mozart as background music while doing maths homework ( those that torture you with freaking inequalities and matrices). They really help.

Well I'll listen to pretty much anything. I love songs from so many different genres (including rap, yes, I am a Philly girl thru and thru ) And I am an avid Billy Joel fan-- I love that man! Though my current obsessions seem to be Breakin Dishes by Rihanna, Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie, and the Elton John/LeAnn Rimes version of Written in the Stars

I love EVERYTHING. It takes a lot for me to not like a song. (My current favorites are Everything Changes by Staind and Lapdance by N.E.R.D.) =]
I LOVEEEEE rap. I know they say horrible things and they're completely inappropriate, but I guess that's why I like it so much. Inappropriate might as well be my middle name. I'm in theatre people. =] And that old saying that you get this newfound appreciation for country music after your first heartbreak, well, it's true. This past year I have fallen in LOVE with country! (LOVE Carrie Underwood)
I think the only music I really don't like is Screamo. I hate it. I don't know, it just doesn't sound like music to me. I like hard rock, but when you can't even understand what they're saying, I don't see the point. And I can't say I'm really in love with emo-punk either. Oh, and I love latino stuff, even though I don't understand it.
Oh, and it's ok Aribeth, I LOOOOOOVE Alone! (Heart..yumm...I love them...)

I like quite a mix. Bands: Guns N Roses,Velvet Revolver,Metallica,Billy Talent,REM,My Chemical Romance,Girls Aloud,Muse,Oasis,Red Hot Chilli Peppers,S club 8. Solo Artists: Vanessa Hudgens,Nelly Furtado,Ashley Tisdale (don't actually like her voice much but her songs are mostly really good),Michael Maguire,Kate Bush,Frankie Sandford. Soundtracks: HSM 1 and 2,kind of a guilty pleasure though I have to admit,Pirates of the Caribbean 1,2&3,Les Misérables,Sound of Music,Mary Poppins,Grease. Other:various Disney songs in French, and then there's a few bands and artists I like maybe one or two songs by but wouldn't buy their music. My guilty pleasures are probably the Disney songs in French, and I quite like a few songs from the 80s.I also love piano music, and this has lead to me listening to a kids' radio station late at night where they play all these lovely piano songs to soothe kids to sleep.

I like a lot of music. It's my life. My music can make me feel sad, happy, angry, crazy, horny... Everything. Whatever I listen to can give anyone who knows me an idea of the mood I'm in.
Music is my emoticon.
I'm also generally pretty open to anything. Experience has taught me to never write anything off because there will come a time when I have to eat my words when I hear a song that just owns me and it happens to be from a genre I have dissed.
Anyways, five songs I dig at the moment are:
The Cliks' Oh Yeah The Sunday Drivers' Do It Trevor Rabin's BMBBO The Smells of Mutiny's Lovebirds Alberto Rabagliati's Mattinata Fiorentina
Note: This would possibly be different if I did this tomorrow.

Yes. Yes. And yes. The Killers are my absolute FAVORITE band right now[and their album of b-sides, Sawdust, comes out next week, I think?] and their song "Glamorous Indie Rock n' Roll" is my current favorite. And I love My Chemical Romance. They are completely amazing, I only got into them recentley, and I suppose since they are a bit Emo they could be a guilty pleasure. "The Black Parade" was an AMAZING album, I only know two songs off of their other album, "I'm Not Okay" and "Helena" and I hate that they get all the flack about being 'emo.' I'm glad you like them anyway! =) I also love Fall Out Boy, Cheap Trick, MEAT LOAF [above everything else, he is amazing], Green Day, Panic! at the Disco, Ben Folds, the Dixie Chicks, Bowling For Soup, the Dropkick Murphys, and Everclear. Those are my favorite bands right now, but they are subject to change without notice/reason. I don't really have a guilty pleasure, but that's because I'm the biggest anti-music snob in the world. There's no reason why a person should feel guilty for liking the music he/she likes. So what if it's completely out there? You like it, so what else matters? END THE LABELING OF MUSIC!!! [steps off soapbox] Yeah, so music's definitely my thing. =)
