..that we all sort of have the same basic kind of likes and dislikes? because one of my friends came on this board one day w. me and was like "oh my good lord, lissi. you've found your own nation. it's like there are hundreds of you on this board!" and i just found that so hysterically funny that i decided to post this thread. respond to this pointlessness if you find the time [hah]

I know. Funny, isn't it? But great. It's wonderful to have loads of people just like you together, or at least know they exist. I think i know why, you see, not any kind of people like MMAD, you have to be some kind of unuderstood frick, it's not like with other ships. It's very interesting, painfull and somewhow...filosofic. Some don't like it because of the age, some because of the age gap, some simply can't think of them as humans, not only teachers, and others simply can't see it. Well what's left is us. so it's to be expected we have the same fav actors, movies, books amd we mostly think very alike. Before I found this board, I thought I was alone in the world. But to see it's not so makes me so very happy! Yay! I'm not the only frick!

I think it's wunnerful! It's like we're all mates on one big ship, defending it and the rest ... I feel esp. close cuz here, where I live, you say MMAD and get a blank stare in return. *mutter darkly about unimaginative idiots* Cheers!

I totally know what you mean! Even though I'm new I read through old discussions or something and get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing I'm not the only one in love with MMAD.

I saw we start making family trees. jk ... but seriously ... I was so happy when I found this. I'd been on HMS Infinite Incantaem ... but then I kinda phased from AD/MM for a while and then got back to it over the beginning of last summer.

;D Hi kissofdeath, no need to feel old - I could be the mother of most of you guys, not only the big sister (and I am fairly new on the board)! By the way, your banner for your story "Because of them" is absolutely great! Wow, especially Minerva ...

lol, its so weird. every now and then i get in this board i see new eras of shippers. (i tend to come back for a while, stay away a month or so, then come back, depending on my schedule) when i first joined, the main people on the scene were Elo, Sprinks, childminerva, beMMADfabulous, etc. then a few months later it was dianahawthorne, Minnycat, muriel2562, etc. Now its you guys. Man, you guys make me feel so old! Doesn't really make much sense how i feel old, but i just do! lol, but its great having new people on the board. Especially since the "oldies" rarely go on anymore. makes things much less lonely. XoXo ~kissofdeath Lol, the new generation of MMAD shippers are here! ;D Haha, well, yes you're older than me, I think I'm probably the one of the youngest shippers here or something, since I'm only thirteen! Yeah, I've noticed that the oldies never come online much, except for a few, like Elo. Cheers!

Wow, I suppose we are a bit like the next MMAD generation... Although I would have totally been on board long ago had I known about it!

*laughs* yeah, I'm new too, but I feel as though I've been here forever, lol! yeah i'm the same. Everyone is so nice and.....together (can't think of right word) here in this fourm. ..that we all sort of have the same basic kind of likes and dislikes? because one of my friends came on this board one day w. me and was like "oh my good lord, lissi. you've found your own nation. it's like there are hundreds of you on this board!" and i just found that so hysterically funny that i decided to post this thread. respond to this pointlessness if you find the time [hah] haha and again i'm the same my friend thinks that of me, even though i'm a bigger HP fan than her yet she's just as bad as me. (though doesn't follow the whole AD/MM part)

I have to say, I was surprised to find myself on the list of oldies. Though I don't think I am on the same level with others you have listed, I can see where you are coming from. I think it has to do with waves of people finding ADMM, and the time of life they are in when they do discover our lovely couple. I'll always be a shipper and I will probably still check in here every so often, but it can't be what it was for me. Time marches on, I suppose, so... So be it.

SPRINKS
SPRINKS
HOW ARE YOU, SPRINKS? I'VE MISSED YOU!
I do believe that I am, in fact, an oldie. I've seen, what is it, two years? three? on this board, so I guess that makes me a veteran or something now but I don't know, I never was much of an oncologist.

You are right, Elo. I started writing because I wanted to write like them. I still want to write like them. As a group and individuals, they were so original. I wish I could have been there too.
I remember when I first joined here I started at the very end of the Romance section and read all the way through to the present, then I moved on to the other sections. You can really see the shifts the board has went through in that time. It really was the best of the board in my opinion. I still wish I could write that well!

Oh my goodness, Elo I think I just choked up. Because you are so, so correct.
I too remember combing through every section on this board, reading fic after fic until there was nothing left to read. It was the best of times, truly it was.

XD Are you below 16 or something? Well I am 16, but I feel like a little sister because I'm a newbie here. LOL. I haven't read every fanfic here yet sadly. I don't have enough time right now. Definitely one of the things on my to do list though.

Yeah ... I kinda noticed that too. Like, now, there's a whole bunch of new people. When I browsed in 2006 (I apparently made an account then - got a new e-mail then made an account on the new e-mail) I saw a few different names than now. But at the first thing you said, mmadcrazyfan, my friends were so happy when I found this - they were overjoyed that I could freely discuss AD/MM with others besides them. Thanks guys.

It's amazing how many people are joining this board now. I've been a member for a little over a year now, and I've seen so many people join. I believe it's true that we're kinda like a family. We all share similar interests, and we are united together by our wonderful MMAD ship. I think its great!

I am super happy that this thread got revived. .
I remember Kaylee and Fran where some of the first few reviewers I saw, and some of the things they came out with made me laugh for ages. And then I saw beMMADfabulous fluff and I got really excited and joined.
And finally I read some ANGST =)
And then I got super obsessed.
Aw I love this board.

Oh Elo, I hear you. Do you remember (of course you do, rhetorical question...) people like Jestana, Quill of Minerva, Sensibly Quirky, Rogueinker (love at first sight for me there, really) and uber grasshopper? Ah, good times, good times...
I remember this ship long ago, before it was even officially sunk, before we even had wind of Horcruxes or Dumbledore being, dare I say it, gay. Back in the day with CoS confirmed it for us, and Maggie Smith's observations sent us into pulpatations.
This ship doesn't float for me in quite the same way as it once did. I miss what it used to be for me - when it was almost entirely fanon, and people used to scoff in our faces. When the ship was so elusive that we could create our own stories, our own versions of events and not have to take into consideration JKR shooting it down.
After all, for me - this ship was really about the fans grasping it with two hands, and running with it - without the slightest piece of confirmation, without even knowing if it could even remotely possible - and loving it all the same.
PS: Back in those days, the sock stories were magnificent.

How is it possible that I *just* found this thread? I know what everyone means, and I've noticed over time that with every new wave of members, the style of the fiction changes almost fundamentally. I also know that there are some conventions on this board held almost self evident, (Minerva's eyes are green, her middle name tends to be a variation on Catharine, she comes from an old family of Wizards, etc...) and I remember when we were still playing with those, writing all kinds of fics until we found what felt right. Heaven knows there are more than a few writers who jumped ship, who I wish I could reel back in, but I think it'll be interesting to see where the board goes now. And, for goodness' sake, I'll be here. Even if it's just me 70 years from now, posting and then reviewing myself like the crazy person I am. Also, what a funny conversation to be having. This board is not 400, but rather just shy of 4 years old. It's a youngster! --MG

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I really had to reply to this—merely to register how strange it feels to be absent for 2 years and then return to shippiness like I have! I'm rereading all the old 'classics', some of which I couldn't remember whether I'd read before or not until halfway through, and being overjoyed at how much new stuff there is! Though hardly an oldie; I was around when Jo 'sunk the ship' and that's my most MMAD moment.
