These are direct quotes from the book The Missionary (which is like a little guide to the movie complete with pixx):
Charles Fortescue was de-frocked in December 1906 and his MIssion was converted into a chemical warehouse for McEvoy's Yellow Whippet Lemon Tonic Company. But Fortescue himself stayed on in Dockland. He used his experience gained in Africa to become an accomplished carpenter, builder and entertainer. His Samburu war dance was a star turn at the Frog and Postman and it was performed in full with the help of the Salvation Army Band and the Isle of Dogs Ballet School at the Coronation in 1910. Fortescue AND HIS WIFE ISABEL became much-loved characters in London's East End and he was still known as "The Rev"when he died there, in a snake charming accident, in 1933.
Lady Isabel Ames recovered from her wounds on the grouse moor after her husband had bought a hospital for her, to try to prevent any scandal. Once it was clear that she intended to divorce him he cut her off witout a penny in which state she arrived in London to join Charles Fortescue in April 1907. For the first time since she had given up being plain Isabel Dogmore-"The Fastest in the Business" she was happy-drinking again at the Frog and Postman in Rotherhithe, watching legendary East End characters like "Mad Dick" Poncraine, the Burning Spoon Player, and joining in the life she wished she'd never left. she lived to be a hundred and three and died of shock in 1962.
**It's a great little book and I received it from a very good friend. It's called Michael Palin-The Missionary and is loaded with pixx from the movie. This was probably way more information than you needed or wanted but thought I'd share the info anyway!

The Missionary is one of my all time favourite films... I love Michael Palin (and Maggie of course) Was the book part of a special edition DVD or is it sold seperately?

The book was sold as a separate item entirely from the vhs or dvd and was printed in 1983. A friend of mine (Minerva's Quill) actually bought it for me and give it to me as a present. If you to go www.amazon.co.uk and search for Michael Palin The Missionary....you should get the dvd as well as the book. I just looked and there are several people offering the book for very reasonable rates, though it's in pounds sterling (£). Hope this information helps! Ang

I was looking up "The Lonley Passion of Judith Hearne" on Amazon but couldn't find it. I looked on www.amazon.co.uk and found it. Even though its in pounds sterling would I still be able to buy it in America?

Umm, I'm sorta confused as to what you're trying to buy.
If you're looking for the book on the movie The Missionary, yep you could buy it and whatever method you use to pay (usually a credit card through amazon), they will do the monetary conversion for you and it will show up on your bank or credit card statement.
If you're trying to buy a dvd or vhs tape of The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne, then be careful when buying from amazon.co.uk. Those dvd's and vhs tapes from across the pond won't play in our "Americanized" dvd and vcr players. It's a "region" thing.
Hope this helped! Ang

UK tapes are usually NTSC and for recording the tapes on DVD do you need a code free DVD recorder
