I am putting this here because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone.
General question:
After events of HBP, do you think Minerva's odds of surviving the series have gone up, gone down or not changed?
Do they change one way or the other if she and Albus were a couple? And Why?
Also do you think, if they are a couple, the real reason Albus trusted Snape has something to do with Minerva? Did he save her from the DEs and THATS why he trusted Snape?
Your thoughts are appreciated. I have two plot bunnies hopping around these questions and wanted opinions.
thanks all, bonnie

I'm not sure I have actual points or mere ramblings, but I'll torture you with it either way. I think she's safe to be honest. I think she had her brush with death, and she'll survive from here on out. JKR has killed off most anyone that could be of serious help to Harry leaving he and his two close buds to now carry the full load, so if MM dies it would be during a battle. She rarely made it to a battle with a lighter work load than she'll have now, but who knows. I'm not sure she and Albus being a couple actually matters unless that is some big twist she is saving for the end involving Voldemort. I suppose that's what you are hinting at, but the only reason their marriage would increase or decrease her chances of survival is Voldemort or some huge theory. As much as I love reading about those in fanfiction, and wish to continue reading them I doubt there is some big secret theory regarding their marriage or if there is if it would impact Harry's quest to kill Voldemort. I'd like to think there is some other reason besides Snape being sorry that Albus trusted him, so sure! Christy

Here are my thoughts: Minerva's chances - not changed or gone down a bit, since she is now leader of the Order. If she and Albus are a couple - yes, definitely influenced, and it would mean almost certainly that she is a goner. There is a poetic, romantic touch in seeing them united in death that would funnily enough match the angle JKR usually goes for. Albus trusting Snape had something to do with Lily IMHO.

Gone down. The fact that she's upset over Albus will probably weaken her judgement, perseverance and overall strength.
Do they change one way or the other if she and Albus were a couple? And Why?
They change a bit if they were a couple because she'll be really upset over his death and less likely to get through the war. But she'd probably be v. upset anyway.
Also do you think, if they are a couple, the real reason Albus trusted Snape has something to do with Minerva? Did he save her from the DEs and THATS why he trusted Snape?
No, because Minerva basically says in HBP that she wonders why he trusted Snape. If she'd known and it had been something to do with her, she wouldn't have said that; she probably would have got around it.

If Albus & Minerva were a couple , Minerva would be after his death: * very powerful in battle because she wants revenge and I bet nobody wants to deal with an angry McGonagall!
* very depressed, she can lock herself in her rooms and die from lonelyness. But that's a bit drastic. So I think she will appear weaker, grey hair, more rimples, tired, ...
I don't know which option will come true in book 7. If JK Rowling don't want them to be more then just friends, we will probaly never see a lot of Minerva's feelings. She will keep acting like in the previous books, but now as Headmistress and Head of the Order.
Although, I so hope Minerva and Albus were lovers!! *starts to beg too JK Rowling*
Love, Sarah xx

I really, really don't want JK to kill off Minerva, but I have this really bad feeling that she will. I don't know that she sees Minerva as being important enough to save, because the books are really all about Harry, Ron, and Hermione (very unfortunately). As for Snape saving Minerva from the DEs...Well, I really don't know what I think of that idea and I don't think any indication has ever been given that that might be the case, so I'd say no.

The first impression I got when I started thinking about it was that Dumbledore may not be dead. If he is, however, I got the feeling that Minerva will be one of the next to die. If Min does not die, however, it will definatly be different for her, IMO. She'll probably seem more empty because of the loss of Dumbledore.
