I've seen the movie 3 times in the last 2 days... and I can only say... I LOVE IT!! Is, by far, the best of HP’s movies (even if PoA was directed by Cuarón –remember I’m Mexican!) I can't complain about the Death Eaters, because I imagined them since I read the book the first time, as KKK members in black (for me... they've always been the KKK in the magic world). I loved the fierce Albus. Maybe at the beginning he was a little aggressive (specially when he shakes Harry) Remember at the end of 4rth book, when Dumbledore brakes into fake Moody's office to save Harry. Harry thinks (and I'm quoting): "At that moment, Harry fully understood for the first time why people said Dumbledore was the only wizard V. had ever feared. The look upon Dumbledore's face as he stared down at the unconscious form of Mad-Eye Moody was more terrible than Harry could have ever imagined. There was no benign smile upon Dumbledore's face, no twinkle in the eyes behind the spectacles. There was cold fury in every line of the ancient face…” As much as I loved Richard Harris as Dumbledore, I’m sure Mr. Gambon can perform this Albus’ temper in a better way. The way Michael Gambon stares Moody and threatens him with the wand is scary! I can’t wait to see Dumbledore-Voldemort´s duel in the Mistery Department in OoP movie! Nevertheless, I also found the Yule Ball a little ADMM-disappointing. Eventhough I LOVED the look Minerva gave Albus when they’re walking to the dance floor… I almost began to scream to my boyfriend: “HOW CAN YOU SAY THEY ARE NOT IN LOVE!” Amandahleigh: I agree with your friend. I didn’t like the score… in the Goblet of Fire scene (when the parchment with HP’s name), the music was like a Cinderella’s vals. Am I the only one who thinks this movie should exist in a extended version for fans just like Lord of the Rings? I could stand another hour watching Albus & Minerva dancing!! Hope the DVD has extra scenes!

DITTO!
DITTO to that too! I hope there are a LOT of deleted scenes to watch when the DVD comes out. Because that would be awesome.

Hello everyone! I just watched the movie last night, and I LOVE IT!! I didn't really like Micheal Gambon as Dumbledore tho.. I still miss Richard. But, I have to give kudos to Micheal for being an excellent actor. He did a really good job in this movie, as did Daniell and Emma and Rupert. The lil' kids are growing up! *tear* Actually, they are even older than me by a year, but still. I really loved the special effects in this movie. By the way they looked, they must have worked hard to try to make them look real. I LOVED the Second Task! When Harry was in the water and swimming after he took the gillyweed, he was swimming so gracefully, I was in awe!! THis is my FAV movie of all time, and it is hell of a lot better than Azkaban was. (no offence to whoever likes the 3rd movie) As for the Yule Ball, I loved it also. Minerva's face and everyone cheering when they moved out to dance was just perfect! My theory is, right or wrong!, that if Albus and Minerva went out to dance, they would be dancing the dance that everyone else was.. so.. that means that Albus lifted Min up!! That makes me smile thinking of that so that is what I will think! One thing I didn't like about the movie was that it was way too rushed, but, I have to remember that they can't fallow the book word by word. I really like this movie, but I feel that they should have kept some of the other stuff. I don't know, but for some reasont, the whole thing doesn't feel complete you know?? Anyways.. Who laughed their butt off watching Filch run??!! I DID!! IT was fricken' HILARIOUS!! I am still laughing about it!! HAHA! That was GREAT!! I hope there are other people who want to talk about this. E-mail me if you wanna share: rnielsen@mail.com-- feel free to talk about anything with me. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! Rae P.S as for the Death Eaters, they didn't seem dark enough for me.. I was expecting to be freaked out when I saw them, but they didnt seem so scary. I was lookng for more of the World Cup, but unfortunatly there wasn't much of that in the movie either. Lord Voldemort was great. LOVED HIM!! Mad Eye Moody wasn't what I impictured at all, but he looked great! P.S P.S I also wanted to see the part at the world cup when the Death Eaters were Torturing those Muggles, you know... when they were hanging in the air by a green light and they were like twitching in pain and stuff?? What can I say? I am a horror fanatic. All I am saying is that I wanted to get freaked out by this movie.. and I didn't But I loved it anyway. Daniell is HOTT!! WOO HOO!! *cheeky grin* Rae

Who laughed their butt off watching Filch run??!! Actually Filch has a lot of hillarious moments in this movie: - The run - All the early-fired canyons. (is that the translation? Canyons? I'm sorry) - The dance with Mrs. Norris Is'bel

I agree he has improved but he just didn't do it for me, (I think it's the lipstick) now Barty Crouch Junior was a different matter except the tongue thing :S But I could have gladly sat in Azkaban with him and Snape's voice in the background.

ALL Hysterical moments! lol I never laughed so hard...Seriously...
I thought that he was a little too good looking. I mean, Sirius was supposed to be H O T T pre-Azkaban, right? And he was no pretty picture coming out, but Crouch, well...
Then again, he's been out for awhile, hiding.
Oh, and they glossed over the whole, Barty escaped from Azkaban thing, which was a little confusing for my friends who haven't read the book. But my friend Rob (fellow HP fanatic, we have matching lightening bolt tattoos) explained it like this: "It wasn't important that another person broke out of Azkaban, because Sirius Black already did it. He was the trendsetter. Now all the cool kids are breaking out of Azkaban. It's like popping the collars of the shirts they get at Abercrombie."
So the moral of this story is:
Death Eaters pop their collars?

I loved the musical score. I went out and bought it after the movie. I just saw it today, and took my niece and nephew to see it.
someone said the change in the directors made albus more serious this time. The conductor who was body surfed in the movie, was that the same actor who played Flitwick?
I didn't see anything of sprout this movie, you would think that with Hufflepuff represented she would be predominant?
and who caught what was on Alistars lap during the third task???
A silver mitt ferret! it was asleep, or dead, I don't know,
Did it seem at the very end when Hermione said that this changes everything, that Harrys line almost sounds like he was laughing when he said it?
all I could think about when the dragon was scabbering across the shingles was... OYE the roof is going to leak!!! and what was up with the magical cealing when moody walked in the first time?
or that tongue thing- was that from working with a snake person?
lot of un answered questions. could have had less dragon and more back story. No elves though. bummer. wanted to see what a girl house elf looked like!

Well, I finally saw it this morning and loved it! I will definitely see it again too! This is my favorite book and now my favorite movie. I did want more ad/mm dancing and more of the Weird Sisters (Go Jarvis!) but I'll take what I can get.
There's so much I liked, but I won't babble on about everthing. I really liked Neville's scenes. I felt so bad for him watching the spider and I loved his dancing by himself in the dorm room. That was so cute!
And I'm sorry, but for just a moment when Harry took his shirt off in the bathtub my mind went "whoa" for just a second. He's growing up very nicely. ;-) (I feel like a dirty old woman thinking that!) That whole scene with Myrtle was hysterical! LOL
I did cry a little, especially when Amos saw his son after Harry brought his body back.
I think they did a great job on Voldemort. Ralph Fiennes is fabulous and I can't wait for the duel with Albus in OotP!
As for the music, of course it wasn't as good as the first three, but the man is following John Williams aka Film Composer God. I think he did a decent job.
Overall, I think they did a good job of compressing that giant book into a movie albeit they left out parts I would have liked to have seen (i.e. Hermione capturing Rita).
- April :-)

Yeah, they cut Rita down so much that it almost didn't even make sense to have her there, she ended up serving no purpose. But, whatever. can't have it all I guess. My ex-roommate was in a movie with Miranda Richardson about four years ago, so when she came on the screen I said to my friend sitting next to me, "I know someone who knows her! And she (MR) knows Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman, which means that I practically know them too!" haha
Okay, so it's a slight stretch...but cool anyway.

I saw it last week and I loved it! It was all I hoped it would be, though I had hoped they would show a little more of the Yule Ball, as did all of you. The first task seemed a little long to me, they could have used a little time from there to show the Sphinx or maybe the capture of Rita Skeeter. What I loved best in this film? I dunno, but I think the scene in which Minerva says that Harry is a boy and not bait scores high! And the dance-class, where Minerva got all poetic about the swans and lions... Now thát was something I hadn't expected about her! I know I am horrible, but I just want to see OotP NOW! Oh, and Jo, if you are reading this, could you get a move on with book 7? I am dieing of curiosity here!

An addition to my last post:
It just occured to me that Janelle, my roommate from my freshman year of college (and a friend of mine) has met both Warwick Davis (Flitwick) AND Miranda Richardson (Rita Skeeter) because she did a movie with them a few years ago. So, by playing the six degrees of seperation game, I practically know 'Rita Skeeter' and 'Flitwick.' haha... I mean, I knew about MR as RS since the movie came out, but WD as FF I just discovered. How could she have kept such a thing from me? lol.
(I'm so sad. I know)
that lucky girl.

I am probably the last from the board but finally I saw it this morning. I don't get up at half past seven for any other movie, mind you. My opinion is very positive. First of all, I am very impressed with the script. They messed up POA beyond repair, but here, we had a modified, rewritten, cut version of GOF, but a version that made sense in the end. I did not like every modified moment (Snape knowing that Harry knows that Karkaroff really had been a DE and not reacting at all is *weird*) but all in all, it was well done. Thanks to the earlier posts I did not miss a single joke or funny moment; I saw Filch and Mrs. Norris dancing (where was Pince, anyway?), all ADMM scenes - and boy, was that a "you'll sleep on the couch tonight" look as someone has pointed out earlier. Newell must like DMS, she is in a lot of scenes, thank God! I wonder how they will handle the Skeeter issue in the next movie - Hermione can hardly blackmail her, can she, but maybe they will write the article themselves and publish it in the Quibbler, who knows. The two minor complaints I have are that a, there was no pause, no time to think. there was comic relief, but halfway thru I felt as if I was hit by a train and the scenes just kept coming and coming and coming...every moment had to be special, there was not a normal day in Harry's life. Of course, time was short. b, I totally miss the garden scene from the Yule ball when Snape blasted the bushes and took off points. I wish they included that for a laugh, I can imagine Alan Rickman wandering between fairy lights and taking points off from couples with an irritated face. One more thought: the Sirius scene was crap and I am a (former) Sirius fan. Why couldn't they film Gary Oldman speaking and then copy green flames around his head? I hope they tried it and decided to go to go with a different method because that looked even weirder...if not, all I can say is it might have looked very good from a technological point of view and seemed to be a good idea, but it was not. JKR described it to be different, why not stick to canon for once? Oh yeah, and who knew you have to let go of the Portkey before landing? I hate it if they change a script for an effect's sake. But am thankful for many AD and MM scenes, even if it was mostly separately . I also looked for the lift and did not see one.

I felt the same way. It could have been great but it was a bit overwhelming. In POA they had a few little scenes that not much really went on in which were good but in this one there was no break. It made my head spin lol

The Skeeter issue was brought up during sunday school this morning (don't ask), and I think the only way it would work was if Rita didn't write the article at all. Also, on MuggleNet a week or so ago, there were some pictures from a GOF calendar. One of the pictures showed Snape standing out in the snow next to a carraige and Karkaroff was with him. Here's the link. www.mugglenet.com/viewer/?image_location=gof/2006calendar-dbd/karkaroffsnape-yuleball.jpg

I saw GOF with subtitles today. I think I know where they cut off Snape and Karkaroff in the garden. When we see Harry arriving at Hermy and Ron's row, he must be coming in from the garden, I suppose.
Hah, I was so excited! I heard Albus saying "wee" twice...it must mean something, it must! I think I can distinguish between accents now and this was the first non-American film where I managed to ignore the subtitles and just listen to the comversations.
On a less cheerful note, the cinema was packed and right next to me a German granny (Oma) sat with her two grandsons, aged 6 and 7, I think. The catchy thing being that only the granny spoke English and none of them spoke my first language so they couldn't make much of the subtitles. The granny kept translating during the whole film and as she thought that no one understands her she spoke rather loud. If I had seen the movie in English I would have volunteered to translate as well, but seeing that it was my first time seeing it in English, I kept signalling through general body language that they should whisper the very least. Unfortunately, they didn't get it. In the end, I startled the 6-year old boy a bit, when he said aloud how big the "garden" looked at the third task, I couldn't help myself and corrected him in German that it was a labyrinth, not a garden. :-) It was clear that none of them had read the books, ever. Sadly, there is no age level here, I wouldn't have taken my 6-year old kid to watch GOF. They took it quite well though, were very frightened at the tasks but watched when Wormtail cut down his hand! Weird, huh?
I really like Michael Gambon's voice, not to mention Alan Rickman, of course.

It made my head spin lol I agree, with this movie everything happened so fast. then this, then that. Although Fred and George were brilliant! But I'm really disappointed in the way Albus acted. I mean, since when does he shakes Harry? And he snapped at Minerva! I was shaking with anger when I saw him behaving like that! Thank Merlin he danced with minerva at the Jule Ball, that maked things a little bit better. ;D Love, Sarah

Mirande Richardson isn't doing OotP film though is she? Where did I read that? Mugglenet probably. It's awful! She's amazing she should so come back. I wish whoever is Albus wouldn't come back, he doesn't behave, sound or look like Albus. What's with his accent?!?!?
I don't think I posted on this thread before so here goes. GoF as a stand alone film would have been good, but as an adaptation of the book I hated it. Though not nearly as much as I hated the PoA film.
