Prompt #93. Thanksgiving

A/N: With many thanks to LB who explained to me what Thanksgiving was to an American, enabling this fic to be written.

I am Thankful, Most of All

My dear,

Today is the day of Thanksgiving in Muggle America. This day calls for naming the things we are most thankful for, in remembrance of the Pilgrims and the help the Indians gave them. Although we will not have to feast tonight to celebrate, I thought today would be most appropriate to reveal the things I am thankful for.

I am thankful for my sherbet lemons, for hot chocolate and for Honeydukes.
I am thankful for peace, and for freedom.
I am thankful for friendship, for love, for companionship and for care.

Minerva smiled softly at the letter, only Albus, after all. Only he could start off so light-hearted and make a serious point. Thanksgiving was a powerful tradition, it appeared. She turned the parchment over to reply and stopped in shock.

And I am thankful, most of all, for you.

Minerva blinked the tears from her eyes with another soft smile on her face. Though the words had never been necessary, it did her heart good to know that the one closest to her thought her important to him. She wiped her eyes and placed the letter carefully inside a book with a sigh.

She thought no further into the letter, not daring to allow her heart to believe there was more to his words than it seemed.

Not that the fic needed that tag, but I did. lol I thought I had reviewed this, but that must have been elsewhere. I loved it. She is right about him moving from silly to serious so quickly; it was perfectly Albus. Thanks for sharing dear!
