The initial shock has worn off, now, so I think it's easier to cope. It's stil upsetting, but who cares? Were just Albus and Minerva's Secret Keepers!

Man we are so devoted. Go us.
Because I know plenty of people that abandon ship.
But not us! HA Jo!

I kind of thought this might happen if the question was ever actually posed. There just never seemed to be enough evidence to. I started out as a Mulder/Scully shipper when I was 11 and there was way more evidence there and Chris Carter denied the ship for year (before giving because of ratings, not because he ever really thought much of it), and MMAD never had even that much evidence. It doesn't matter to me though. They weren't paired with anyone else and it was never denied in the books, so to me its all the same. I'm even somewhat sympathetic to JK's answer. Books/series where everyone gets paired off are just childish.
I won't abandon this ship. I'm used to loving non-canon ships. Even after the ending of Frasier I still believe in my heart that he and Lilith will still get back together (what is it with me and shipping pairings where the woman has a tight bun and black hair?). Hell, I'm not even upset. My fic will continue, revamped some for DH canon and I think I'll even make a little drawing for it. That's assuming I can draw today. Some days I can and most I just can't it seems.

Do they still teach the classics in school? What about classical mythology? Anyone ever hear the one about Pandora? It's quite instructive . . . there are also very cool fairy tales about genies in bottles and lamps and such . . . . Ask a question, be prepared to live with the answer . . . especially if it's predictable.
Or, do what I'm doing -- just ignore it. All fanfic is more-or-less AU, anyway. So what if it's a bit more AU than it was a couple days ago? Does it really matter?

You put us to shame, MMADfan.
I think it was a combination of suspense, the tone of the answer, and crazed shippiness that made everyone so upset. >_<

Yes, but it hurt! After you get over that initial shock (and boy was it worse if you actually saw it happen!), I think you become okay with it. I think I'm feeling better about the ship now because we're not living in suspense anymore. A part of us just had to know, good or bad.

I don't think there's an answer. Because books (to me) are an alternate universe. Who's JKR to say MMAD doesn't exist? All she does is hold the pencil. =]

I feel that we'll be okay. Most ships come about because they're denied or excluded from the canon storyline and I'm used to caring most about the characters and events that an author/TV show seems to have forgotten. To be honest, I never expected JKR to spend much time on any of the teachers; the story has always revolved around the trio and I guess they're the ones she's most interested in. Having said that, though, I find it pretty funny that she was so snarky about not everyone being in love with everybody else and then pairs off her trio and gives them namesake children in such a fanfic-esque way. I happen to agree with her-not everybody *should* be pairing off all over the place- but I feel that she's shot herself in the foot a bit with that epilogue... Anyway. To all of you who experienced the live chat firsthand and have been recovering from your shock, I hope you've started to feel a little better. This board and this ship, I"m absolutely certain, won't be going anywhere. We're all such enthusiasts and we'll keep shipping as we ship best and everything will be okay. Chin up, guys. xoxo

^^^ I'm glad. Writing it made *me* feel better, too. I think I'm trying to convince myself more than anybody else but it seems to be working. *Hugs*.

Exactly what I was thinking this morning. I mean, seriously, almost everyone was paired with someone else in the end, she even gave in to Neville and Luna (who I LOVE, btw)! So why is she getting short with us? I mean, our ship is a hell of a lot more canon then Draco/Hermione or Ginny/Luna. She needs to see how many other bizzare pairings there are.

Nerwheniel, MMADfan, notoriousscrat and Pol have said all I feel. Fanfiction and shipping was always to me something separate from the books, free in its AUness. I was upset to see Jo say that, but then I had spent several hours before reading ADMM!

That is really sad that some people abandon thier ships if they learn they are not true. that makes me sad. But I am still here. PARTY!

Hi everyone! I was really shocked when JKR tried to sink our ship. She wasn't successful, though, we're still here, shipping on. ;D So, our ship is offically AU now. Who cares? That news even made me work on the translation of my MMAD-oneshot. My muse is kinda strange sometimes. MMAD forever!

@ aribeth: It's not your fault that JKR didn't notice that MMAD is the best pairing to ship in the world. So don't worry about that... ...and write fanfiction instead.

Oh, no way am I giving up on AD/MM. She can't keep a half-werewolf down LOL, she can call us all delusional if she wants, but what does she know? She was probably Confunded during that interview, right people? Besides, we know how bad she is at maths...we can't trust her on anything, bwahaha. (That said, I loved the epilogue...) ~Kaylee Lily Andromeda Tonks-Lupin, glad to be back
