They had to have something there in the begining. Then like some of the other plots she had to get rid of it. Such as the character who was supposed to do magic late at night and the Professor's who were married. Maybe Dumbledore and McGonagall early in the story were involved, but as Dumbledore had to die she realized it would have been too confusing and simply an increase of plot by removing Dumbledore and Mcgonagall connection.

JK Rowling said she was surprised that no one asked about what Dumbledore's wand was made out of.
Well, let me say this, it was one of my questions to her that I submitted. I would have asked it if I had been able to get into the bloody thing.
I'm still shipping ADMM - it will never sink for me. This is just a little bump in the road for me.
