Okay, so JK rowling gives us a little more info on the 19 Years later epilogue. Including info on Luna and Neville. Sadly it doesn't really add any new info about Minerva... Well, here's the link. Check it out. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19959323/

So, I guess that means that Minerva is not Head Mistress when Harry and Ginny's kiddies go to Hogwarts. Hopefully, she hasn't died and is living her life as well as she can do without Albus.
Of course, this is what I am hoping for Minerva - After the death of Albus, she had a year to put her things in to order before dying in her sleep to be with her husband - they are now very happy together and watching over Hogwarts.
And just to say this - Minerva really isn't that old in the grand scheme of things - Albus was a lot older when he was Headmaster. I do hope Minerva was headmistress for a while.

Yes. She deserved her reign as the head. I just don't think it makes since that she would be too old, comparing her to Albus and probably a few more heads.

You know what i'm slightly put out that she said Minerva was "getting on a bit" and therefore wasn't headmistress...i think thats a dreadful thing to say esp after creating a character like Albus. So much for empowerment of women!
Thanks JKR!
That said she'd better have something to say about our pair!

Hm.... Harry and Ron as Aurors... wasn't that kinda obvious?? And without their NEWTs.. but after saving the world, that doesn't really mean a thing I guess.. As for Minerva, I'm also really disappointed that she isn't headmistress... but well.... There's a lot of room for imagination for those 19 years!!!!!

McGonagall not being headmistress disappointed me more than JKR sinking our ship.

I don't think she really sank the ship. I mean, where exactly does it say they were not in love?

Sore point, littlemorgsi! She said just that in the live chat. I'm sorry. Although you could make the argument that because it wasn't in the books, her comments weren't actually in canon... There's a *lot* of discussion about what she said on the "live chat" thread if you want to check it out.

I will pretend she never gave that interview. "Getting on a bit?" pfft. Minerva would be 89, over 60 years younger than Albus. Of course she's not too old.
JKR seriously needs to vamp up her female characters. Sometimes I find myself agreeing with those feminists... though I go more for equality. Gah, that has actually really peeved me off. *goes to my own HP land -- and stays there, never to return to JKR's HP land*

MinnieQuill that put a smile on my face! ;D
I think Minerva deserves a nice retirement. It's the only excuse I can give myself without being like "WTF MINERVA SHOULD HAVE THE JOB!!!! -sobbing fit-"

Glad I made you laugh. And Minerva strikes me as the type who'd get bored easily. I just don't think she'd enjoy retirement that much. Unless she was super-duper old and physically she can't do her duties. I am staying in my HP world. It's so much nicer there.

I know! I mean, we have Hermione who is semi-Mary-Sueish, Ginny who IS a Mary-Sue, Bellatrix who's a nut-case, Narcissa who turns to a quivering mess, Molly's not bad but is described as 'annoyng' for most of the books until a sudden 'I can defeat the Dark Lord's second-in charge' (sorry, I was one of those 'whatever, as if, that is bulls***, when I read that bit) and then Minerva, who was bloody awesome for the whole seven books and then isn't Dumbledore's equal (my foot, she's his superior) and then 'getting on a bit.'
Urgh... *sinks back to own HP world and hi-fives MY Minerva*

And again, I totally argree. Especially the line when Molly defeated Bellatrix I was thinking "Waht the hell...?" I was hoping Min would kill her. As for Min not being Dumbledore's equal, I just decided to be AU for the rest of my life. Living in one's own HP world is way better, anyway.

Yea I agree, she gave us the characters but we have to play with them ....and make the women a little bit cooler. Except Minerva, Min rocks my socks....and Bella too, even if she is a little out of her tree. I do agree about Molly as well. I mean, I love the Weasleys (except Ginny,) but there is no way on this planet Molly would ever be able to beat Bella, not ever. I told my mum about it and she was all like 'well it's just mother's love, she could only do it because she was desperate to protect her child........*rant goes on.*' But I thin that's just tosh. Bella could make mincemeat out of Molly, and probably would have if JK hadn't decided to give Molly superpowers.

Exactly! Though I was having this debate (well, rant on my part) and Dad quite truthfully pointed out the fact that whilst normally a woman couldn't lift a car, in a few cases, when their children have been trapped, mothers have LIFTED the car off them. Which I thought was bloody awesome.
Dad is being all 'there's nothing more powerful than a mother protecting her young.' Mum's contribution was 'yeah, I wouldn't duel her, I'd probably run at her with some sort of shield, tackle her to the ground and jump and down on afore-mentioned shield' (yes, she's a nutter.)
