Okay, so Dumbledore said that he borrowed James' invisibility cloak a few DAYS before the Potters' death and yet Lily said in her letter to Sirius that James couldn't go out because Dumbledore still had his cloak.
Harry's birthday is at the end of July so I can only assume that Lily sent her letter in early August
and Lily and James died at halloween - three months later.
So either Dumbledore lied, Lily didn't write her letter for a really long time or JKR slipped up.
Anyone got a better explanation? I can't be the only person to have noticed...

D'oh! You were meant to come up with a completely obvious explanation! You'd think someone would have picked it up in the proof-reading ... Oh well, it's in there now... aphelion
