This was one of my latest ideas, and although I know I will get round to it at some point, it may not be for months and it would be nice to see one (or two, or more ...) similar to keep me from going insane.
Fortunately it's a lot simpler than most of my challenges. It's an AU, during second or third year (not fourth, because the Ball gets in the way) where Minerva has convinced Albus to take some time off, and for reasons you can make up, Hogwarts has been closed during the Christmas holidays and all the students have been sent home. For another reason (up to you) Harry goes back to the Dursleys rather than staying with the Weasleys or whoever. They send him round the bend and he ends up running away.
Minerva finds him and takes him back to her house, where she puts him up, makes him feel at home, and tends to any injuries etc. Then they experience a small Christmas together. Albus makes an appearance during Christmas or Boxing Day.
If during PoA, bring Sirius in somewhere.
If during CoS, either bring in the Polyjuice plan - perhaps Harry accidentally lets it slip to Minerva - or Tom Riddle's past (remember, Minerva was at school with him).
Anyone can try the challenge, just be sure to let me know and let me read it!
