My Poem

I have had my third poem published. Well, fourth, I suppose. The first two were last year in my college anthology, where you can have poems, short stories, or photos placed in there. Then one of those was published in an actual book, and now this year my fourth one is published in the same anthology. It's called "Would You?" and it was written last semester, when I was feeling extremely angsty. Haha. It is the poem below. I was feeling upset cuz I realized how alone I felt, especially since I had a whole "Albus/Minerva" thing going on where I discovered I still felt a lot for my ex boyfriend, but didn't want to tell him in case he'd be mad or wouldn't feel the same. And yet, for all my fearing, we are now dating again and have been since December. Ironic, huh? Another ironic thing is that this was not dedicated to him, it was just pure angst. Hahaha. The night we got together was very MMAD-ish as well. Haha. But another story for another time.... Now, on to the poem:

Would You?

Would you have loved me if I were diff'rent?
If I did not look or act as I do?
Or what if my spare time were diff'rent spent?
Would your love for me still prove to be true?

Would you love me if I were beautiful?
If my hair was blond and my eyes were blue?
If my legs were long and my lips were full?
Would all of this be enough for you?

Would you ever love me, I have to ask?
Or would you spurn me then, as you do now?
Would you hate me then even with that mask?
Or would you place a kiss upon my brow?

I cannot be all you want me to be
Why can you not love me for being me?

I swear, I was not thinking of my ex when I wrote this, because he and I had stayed friends, even after we broke up. Haha. Though if you look at the whole picture, it might seem that way. Hahaha.
