Hey guys. I was having a debate with a friend over this. I just wanted to know what everyone else thinks.

Well, I never liked vampire or romance novels, but for a romantic vampire book, it's okay, even if it is predictable. It's just gotten kind of irritating because everyone is obsessing over it. Harry Potter is much better.

I heard someone say it was the 'new Harry Potter'. *scoff*
And I *scoff* because there's no way it can have as wide an appeal as Harry Potter.
I don't know many 8 year olds rushing to the bookstore at midnight for the release of the next book...what's it called... Breaking Dawn, I think.
But I know a bunch who went for the Harry Potter release.
Also, haven't met many little old ladies obsessed with that Edward fellow. But I've met a decent amount of little old ladies who think Harry Potter is... how did one put it... 'The bees knees'.
So I wonder if it's really a fair comparison. It seems to me that they are vastly different books, and for rather different audiences.

Well Harry Potter had that fresh, young kind of appeal that made parents feel comfortable letting their children read the books. Twilight seems to be aimed more at young sexual energy.
I don't know, Twilight just seems so unoriginal and petty. I'd pick Harry Potter any day.

Harry Potter. Even though I love the Twilight series, well, I loved Harry Potter first. And Harry Potter was deemed safe enough for me to read when I was 7. My parents didn't approve of me reading the Twilight series even though I was 14 when I started.
Twilight is good, yes. But Harry Potter is better. Twilight seems to be something like a watered down version of any other vampire books out there, in my opinion. I've read quite a few, and somehow, Twilight always seem to be a PG-13 version of the NC-17 books I sometimes read. Harry Potter has this appeal that I found hard to find in other books. x.x
Just my opinion though.

I'm with McGonagallsGirl on this. (The bee's knees, indeed!)
I really do hate comparisons of HP and Twilight. The media is being a complete, unoriginal dork about it.
I'm not saying one is better than the other. They're completely different genres! So it's not even a question of better quality, it's a question of personal preference. In which case, if you like really hot vampires and werewolves and Mary Sues more than you like ordinary vampires and werewolves plus centaurs and hags and giants and wizards and witches and lots of wonderful magic - that's your call.
Erm.
I may be biased.

I love Twilight. I started reading the series after Deathly Hallows came out, and I'm addicted. Though Harry Potter is still better and it will always be my #1 addiction.

Never tried twilight, so HP wins by default for me.
