Avatar URL

I'd like to add one of my avatars to my profile. The avatar is saved on my hard drive. When I try to get the URL it looks like this.

file://C:\Documents and Settings\Donna\My Documents\My Pictures\Icons\Things... 7.gif

When I try to enter this in the space for custom avatar under 'modify profile' it doesn't show up. I know I'm doing something stupid, but what?

You have to have it hosted on an image site like Photobucket. They are free to join. You need to upload your pic to a site like that and then put the url (that they provide) of your pic into the custom avatar box.

Like April said, you have to upload to an image hosting site. You have to join Photobucket (photobucket.com), but there are others that you can just upload without joining, such as Tinypic (tinypic.com).
