A/N: this was a quick one-shot i wrote....
“It was in the middle of summer. I had been invited to one of the Ministry’s parties. Usually, I try to get out of them, but something inside me to go to this one. I left to the Ministry with a smile, thinking something was going to happen tonight. Something that would change my life. As I arrived at the party, as usual, tons of people had wanted to talk to me about the defeat of Grindelwald. I had spent most of the night talking about that, but then, Alaster Moody, a very good friend of mine, had saved me. He told me I had to meet the best auror on his team. I walked with him to a group of people in conversation. Alaster tapped a young women on the back and said, ‘Albus, meet Minerva McGonagall.’ As she turned, I felt my heart melt. She was beautiful, long black hair, emerald eyes, red lips, fair skin. Alaster was going on about Minerva, but I barely listened. I couldn’t think. When Alaster finished, I heard a song start and used all my Gryffindor courage to ask Minerva for a simple dance. She accepted and we walked to the dance floor. I felt as if we were the only people in the room. As we danced to the waltz, I had realized something, Minerva looked oddly familiar and it then struck me, Minerva was a student of mine, one of the best students I had. I also realized how much she had changed, by that, I mean how grown-up she was. We had danced and conversed the rest of he night, going on and on about the most random things. Finally, as it reached near midnight, I said, ‘goodnight.’ and left home, but before I left, I swept Minerva into a kiss. And from that moment on, I knew I was in love with your grandmother.” Albus tucked Katherine and Matthew in, who were both fast asleep, and quietly walked out of the room to the couch, where Minerva sat, looking into the roaring fire.
“Are they asleep?” Minerva asked, sounding very tired.
“Yes.” Albus sat down and put an arm around Minerva.
“I heard you, telling them that story.” Minerva smiled.
“They asked to hear it, apparently it’s their favorite.”
“It’s my favorite too.” Minerva pulled Albus into a kiss.
