Summer Thunderstorms
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A/N: Written for the AD/MM board's challenge number 96. I don't own Harry Potter or anything recognisable.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Minerva and Albus were walking back from Hogsmeade when it began to rain, a sudden summer thunderstorm that quickly drenched them to the skin. They ran towards the gates of the school as fast as they could, but before they reached the entrance hall, Minerva slipped and fell from the mud. Turning around to help her, Albus fell as well, landing nearly on top of her. They were close, their faces barely an inch apart, and Minerva leaned forward and closed the distance, pressing a kiss to his lips. Albus responded, kissing her back passionately, before he suddenly pulled away.
Albus stood up and walked away from her, heading back towards the castle. She rushed after him.
“Albus, I’m sorry! Please say something!” she begged, grabbing his elbow and forcing him to face her.
“This can’t happen between us,” he said. “I can’t do this.”
“Why not?” Minerva asked pleadingly. “I love you Albus,” she said.
“I love you, too, Minerva, but it can’t happen... I’m too old... You deserve better...” Albus trailed off as Minerva wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her body against him.
“Albus, please... I love you so... just kiss me, please,” Minerva pleaded.
“Oh, Minerva...” he said, acquiescing to her request and taking her face in his hands, kissing her lips repeatedly.
Minerva moaned and clung to him, holding him close to her. The rain still fell around them. A thunderclap scared them apart, and Albus looked into her eyes.
“I love you, Minerva,” Albus said.
“And I love you, Albus,” she replied. “I have for years.”
Another thunderclap reminded them of the storm, and Albus took her hand, pulling her into the entrance hall. Once again their lips met, and this time Albus scooped her up in his arms and began to walk towards his rooms.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next morning, Minerva awoke in Albus’s arms as he nuzzled the top of her head.
“Good morning, love,” he said, kissing her on the lips.
“Good morning,” she replied.
“I’m glad that you changed your mind about us,” Minerva said.
“I am too,” Albus said. “I am too.”
