This is my first story. It's a response to the Arranged Marriage Challange. Sorry it's so short. This is just the first chapter.

Sadly I own nothing. It all belongs to J.K. I'm making no money.

(Ch 1) The News

“Mother what do you mean I’m arranged to be married!” Minerva yelled at her mother. “It was arranged when you were two.” Athena told her daughter, “It’s not anything new.” “Why didn’t you ever tell me?” Minerva asked. “We wanted you to have a normal childhood not worrying about the fact you already were engaged.” Gavan told his daughter. “You couldn’t have told me before I fell in love could you.” Minerva said storming up to her room. “I’ll go talk to her.” Gavan said. “Dear let her calm down first.” Athena told her husband.

“You are so lucky Jewels you never have to worry about getting married.” Minerva told her owl. Jewels just stared at her. “Now I have to tell Albus.” Minerva said half to her self. She went over to get a quill and some ink.

My Dearest Albus,

I love you with all my heart. We can’t let our relationship go on any longer though. Mother and Father just told me that I’m arranged to be married. It’s not anything new it’s been arranged since I was two years old.

“I’m going to break his heart.” Minerva said tying the letter to Jewels’ leg. “Mini can I talk to you?” Gavan asked knocking on the door. “Father I really don’t want to talk to you or Mother at this very moment.
“Sweetheart we know we should have told you before.” Gavan said. Minerva just stared out the window and ignored him.
“We weren’t trying to hurt you.”
“Do you know who I just sent Jewels to? I sent her with a good-bye letter to Albus.”
“We’re sorry.”
“Why did you do this?”
“I wasn’t our choice Mini. It was arranged long before I was even born. Your Grandfather made a deal with a powerful wizard and I was supposed to marry his oldest daughter. But when I married your mother before I turned 20 the pact had to wait until the next generation.”
“Why aren’t you making Diana or Iris do this?”
“It has to be the oldest daughter, and I’m sorry love but you are the oldest.”
“Father just leave me alone for a while please.”

“Gavan is Minerva still up in her room?” Athena asked. “Yes she’s still a little shell shocked.” Gavan replied. “Father where is Mini?” Iris skipping in the door curls bouncing asked. “In her room Iris don’t bother her.” Gavan told his daughter. “Oh all right.” Iris pouted. “Tell your sister not to bother her either.” Athena added. “Ok Mother.” Iris replied.

It's not even a little bit bad, nevermind really bad. It's an interesting though heartbreaking first chapter. Even though I know what should happen since I read the challenge, it was still so sad for them both. It is well written, you should be proud of it. So, next chapter soon then?

(Ch2) I Still Love You

“Albus what are you doing here?” Minerva asked. “I had to see to see you before you went off and got married.” Albus said before kissing her. She pulled back, “Albus I’m engaged.” He ignored her and kissed her again. “Albus my parents…” he cut her off again with a kiss. They broke apart of air after a couple of minuets.
“Minerva I love you so much.”
“I love you too, but we can’t be together.”
“I know I read the owl, my parents told me the same thing I’m engaged too.”
“Do you know who it is?”
“No they won’t tell me.”
“Neither will mine.”
“I love you. If I don’t get back soon my parents will get suspicious.” Albus gave her one more kiss and flooed out the fireplace. Minerva just stood there for a few minuets thinking about what just happened just smiling to herself.

“Diana Mom said to tell you not to bother Mini.” Iris said plopping down on the couch in the library. “All right now leave me alone.” Diana said not even looking up from her book.
“Bit my head off why don’t you.” Iris stuck her tongue out.
“You little pain get out of here I’m trying to read.”
“Whatever.”

Minerva pranced out of her room in a sort of a daze. “You’re looking unusually happy for a girl who just found our she’s got an arranged marriage.” Iris looked up. “Hush up Iris.” Minerva snapped.
“Why does everyone in this house tell me to shut up?” Iris thought out loud.
“Because you’re a pain.”

(Ch3) Bad Mornings and Shopping Trips

(Two months later)

“Minerva honey wake up.” Athena shook her oldest daughter gently to wake her up. “Five more minutes Mom.” Minerva trued away from her mother. Athena shook her daughter once more, “Love you need to wake up.”
“Why? I’m out of school already and it’s the weekend anyway.”
“We have to go shopping.”
Shopping was the magic word, but not for Minerva, Diana who shared a room with her sister bolted up in bed when she hear shopping. “I want to go Mom.” Diana said. “Help me get sleepy head up and you can come.” Athena told her. “I’m not going.” Minerva muttered into her pillow. “Yes you are.” Diana yanked her sister’s comforter off.
Minerva sat up to grab her comforter back from her sister, but her Mother took the chance to levitate her out of the bed and on to the love seat by the vanity. “Mom you cheat.” Minerva glared at, Athena. “I’m a mother you’ll learn it’s not cheating when you need to get your kids moving.” Athena giggled.
“Why do I have to come?”
“We have to get your robes for the wedding.”
“There’s a way to make this morning even worse.”

“Min come on it’s not that bad.” Diana huffed. “Then why don’t you get married then.” Minerva snapped she wasn’t a morning person and her sister wasn’t helping. “Stop it both of you.” Athena cut in. “What ever.” Diana said. “Both of you get dressed, and meet me in the living room in half and hour and then we’re leaving.” Athena said walking to the door.

“I’m not marrying anyone.” Minerva said again for what felt like the eight millionth time in the last two months. Athena acted like she didn’t hear her daughter’s last comment and went out the door. “She does that every time.” Diana said.
“It’s getting on my nerves to tell you the truth.”
“You’re going to have to marry who ever it is anyway.”
“Why does it have to be me though?”
“I know Mini.” Diana walked over to her sister and gave her a hug, “Come on let’s get dressed.



“Come on you two.” Athena yelled up the stairs. “We’re coming Mom.” Diana replied. “Let’s go.” Athena said as her daughters got to the bottom of the stairs, “Minerva will leave that book here.” “Do you have eyes in the back of your head still?” Minerva fumed. “Yes.” Athena laughed.

“I don’t think so.” Athena grabbed her daughter by the arm. Minerva was trying to head to the book store in Diagon Alley. “Bloody…” she said under her breath. “Mini let’s go come on.” Diana said practically dragging her mother and sister to the robe shop.

“Mom look at these.” Dian said, holding up a pearly white satin set of wedding robes with gold embroidery at the edge. “Minerva dear what do you think?” Athena asked. “ Beautiful,” Minerva replied simply, “Great now can I go to the book store?” “No you can’t go to the book store.” Athena said. “I never could understand why you don’ like shopping.” Diana said still looking at robes.

“Why should I get a choice about the robes if I’m not getting a choice in anything else important?” Minerva asked her mother curtly. “For the last time Sweetheart we didn’t have a choice in the matter.” Athena sighed.
“I’m not talking to you anymore Mother.”

Poor Minerva. It must suck to be in such an arrangement. On the other hand, HELLO, I thought you were supposed to be smart. Put the pieces together already. (Obviously this won't happen since it would ruin the plot.)
