Yes I am new to the boards, but I have been a MMAD fan for as long as I can remember! Anyway, I have always wondered about the scene where Collin Creevey gets petrified. Albus tells Madam Pomfrey that Minerva “found him on the stairs”, but later on in the conversation Minerva says, “But I shudder to think… If Albus hadn’t been on the way downstairs for hot chocolate-who knows what might have-” Now Minerva could have meant that Albus came downstairs a few minutes after she found Colin, but I believe the two were hiding something and got their stories mixed up. Because really, if she had found Colin then Albus finding him wouldn’t have been so fortunate, because I’m sure Minerva is more than capable of handling a situation like that. I don’t know, maybe I’m just paranoid and want to prove JKR wrong, but that has always bugged me. I just wondered what you guys thought.

Yes, that scene always bugged me, their stories are so mixed up, it just doesnt seem right. I mean, first, Albus says, Min found him. And then, Min says its b/c Albus was down for hot chocolate. Talk abt confused. I figure it's something like this though - Albus went down for hot chocolate and Minerva followed him from another route and found Colin. Umm, does that make sense? Cheers!

Of course, its weird ... and romantic! I mean, even if my theory is correct, there is still a question of why Minerva went to look for him in the first place ... ;D Cheers!

I've heard this elsewhere but some people think maybe they were together while Albus was on his way downstairs for hot chocolate...but Minerva saw him first. As I love funny, random, romantic AD/MM moments - I like this the best.

to me it sounds like Minerva found him and was a bit stunned then Albus comes with his hot choclate, seeing Minerva and Colin, and then they take him, Colin, to Pomfrey....

I just read this scene in the book, and was going to post about it, good job I didn't. I am absolutely convinced that there is a romantic reason for this, I'm sure they were probably together somewhere, before strolling downstairs for cocoa and finding Colin. After all this scene so much points to them being secretly married, at least in my mind. Obviously Minerva was distressed by what had happened to Colin, so she got her story wrong, and Albus despite his normal calmness was also upset by events and unusually flustered imo. For me it's as though this scene has a big red arrow over it which flashes on and off in a groovy neon way and says "There that's all the proof you need, they really were secretly together." Combine that with the adoring glances, and hand touching at the final feast in CoS, and I'm convinced, and sure that Maggie and Richard were both also convinced. Maybe JKR wrote them as secretly together, intending to reveal the truth later, then someone cast a memory charm on her and she forgot all about her original intent, and well you know ...

Eh, this is one of those things that help fuel my Dumbledore isn't really gay, maybe bi, but not full throtal gay. Here's my explanation that I posted on the Michael Gambon boards a while back in a thread debating Dumbledore's sexuality:
[glow=red,2,300] pssh. Dumbledore's not really gay. She just sprung that to get more attention on it and to try and keep her spotlight bright. You know, go for the shock value.
I personally think that her original plan was for McGonagall and Dumbledore to have something going on. In one of her earlier interviews, someone asks if Hogwarts Professors are married and if so who are they. She replies that some are but they keep it a secret for certain reasons, reasons that we'll find out later on in the series. Well, we never do. Along with many other subplots, that one evaporated. i think she decided to forgo her McGonagall-Dumbledore relationship in favor of a gay Dumbledore in an effort to make the story more 'interesting' and feed her fading spotlight.
It was a matter of what would be more interesting and grab people's attention: the greatest wizard ever being gay, or the afforementioned wizard having a relationship with his deputy. [/glow]

I'm not sure about that! I'll take a look and tell you more when I can.
