Ok, is there people on here that don't like Twilight, the book? Or is it just me? I've been called strange for liking a "disgusting old hag" or in my words, Maggie Smith. Yet, the person who said that is obsessed with a fictional character from Twilight. I've read the book, and I can't see why it's so good. And the obsessors have ruined it for me as well. Are there others here, or am I just insane?

I mean seriously - I am going to shorten my rant. Harry Potter madness began in 1997/1998-ish. Twilight just came about two years ago. I mean SERIOUSLY, what's the big deal with it? I understand the "good book" part but honestly - in my honest opinion, half of that book was crap. I liked the characters but the plot sucks. I mean there's got be be a lot of dangerous love stories about people - Harry Potter included - why is it *mocking voice* Twilight *normal voice* that gets all the movie attention?

I used to like Twilight, and then someone pointed out how crap steph M's writing is, so I re-read it, and they were SO right! And plus, breaking dawn wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. Twilight is just a fad, it will blow over, but Harry Potter will be read FOREVER.

I haven't read it but my friend's cousin is obsessed with the series. Frankly, I fail to understand what is so fascinating about a vampire/human love story.
Good grief.

And she becomes a vampire ... what's cool about that? END SPOLIER WARNING Besides, I don't get why it's so cool. It's just another love story. Harry Potter is special, one of a kind.

Oh ,gosh I was just going to post about this. I don't care for Twilight either. I'm on page 200 of the first book and I find it dull. Stephenie Meyer simply can't write like JK Rowling. I've seen better fan fic writers than Meyer. Twilight drags on and it's full of fluff. I must finish the series just so I can say I've read it. THe books aren't horrible, but heck, Little House on the Prairie is better written.
Rowling's characters are much more developed too. I find that Edward irritates me. Unfortunately most people do not agree with me. I've been trying forever to get the books from the library. I did a statewide library book search and still couldn't get Breaking Dawn ordered.

Thanks guys, I feel better. They were asking what was wrong with me when I said I could barely finish reading the book. Hopefully it will be gone soon....

I sadly admit that I was obsessed with the first book. Slightly, mind you. Not totally obsessed. But I am still ashamed to admit that. I hate twilight. Hate it. I can't believe that I spent a total of 70 bucks on the entire series. Breaking Dawn is not even worth the discounted price that I paid for it. And for the whole bit about it being a good book? I don't see it. I can write better if I am that old. Unfortunately, I am not, so I can't prove her wrong yet. I hate the whole 'Edward is my life, my light, my everything. I can't live without him' bit. Bella is a tad too obsessed.
Anyways, there is better vampire fiction out there. Anne Rice, Joey Hill, Bram Stoker. At least their vampires don't sparkle and they don't fight like a courtroom drama.

Glad you agree! Hmm, have you read Anne Rice? I read a few pages of my friend's library book in the bus and it got me hooked up!

I tried to get into it, but I really couldn't. All my friends are uber crazy about it. I personally find the story way too overrrated.

I too really liked Twilight, but when I looked back I did realize Meyer wasn't that good of a writer. I still like it, I just think people obsess too much about it and over exaggerate how good it is. I think it's just decent. Sadly, two of my friends are obsessive Twilight fans and if I dare even mention that topic, they so wouldn't like it. Though one of them did say she found Breaking Dawn disappointing to her expectations. Also, my mom has read and loves it, but she won't try Harry Potter even though it is better written. That really irks me since she hasn't even tried Harry Potter and insists it's just a children's story. She also says she doesn't like fantasy, but Twilight talks about vampires and werewolves. Yeah, I don't get her.
