Well since I'm a little bored, and fancied trying my hand at something new, I thought I might have a go at producing some of those MMAD youtube vids. My only problem is I have no idea how to do so. I'm quite interested in trying to make a video using still images initially, since I just managed to extract some lovely images from my harry potter dvds, my mind is full of dreams about what I could do with them - I'm sure my ambitions will fail to be realised when faced with my total lack of artistic ability. erm, anyway, tells self to stop waffling and get to the point. Do I need some kind of special software to make vids ? Can anyone point me in the right direction, or tell me how or anything please ? I could probably follow an online tutorial if anyone knows of one. My first idea would be still images, with maybe text superimposed over them and music added. Thanks for any help.

I work with the WindowsMovieMaker, which I found among my computer-software. It works quite selfexplaining...you start a project, import photos from your files, import a song from the WindowsMediaPlayer, sort them on the timeline at the bottom - it is really easy so far... I mean, if I can do it - an old woman with no special computer skills But, to be honest, I have not progressed any further than these kind of videos - I have not figured out how to import videoclips from movies yet - I really should try.

Thanks Micha, I will play around with it and see how I go. Have you published any of your videos on youtube ? It would be interesting to see them.

I also have a youtube account but I don't use the software program that I used to make the picture videos on there. tabbyhearts/musicgoddess61 on YouTube One was made in a seperate class ( Crushed Promises/You Said Okay) and I used iMovie to make it, though I don't have that at home so ... but the others are made with muvee6 which you can download for free (but it's good for editing to fit lyrics). I am going to start using Windows Movie Maker soon - and I have the clips for all the HP DVDs if you want me to e-mail then to you sometimes...it might not be for a while though. xD

Thanks for the help Micha and Tabbyhearts, it's much appreciated. I made my first video last night, a present for my boyfriends birthday, I managed to restrain myself and only include one Minerva and Albus image. At first moviemaker kept crashing on me, but now it seems to be behaving itself. Tabbyhearts, thanks for offering to send me the movie clips, that would be great if you have time, there's no real rush since I want to try using still images first. Or, if you told me what programme you used to extract them, I could probably try myself, which would save you the bother of sending them. I just got a youtube account, how on earth did the two of you manage to customise your profiles so nicely ? It's a busy day today, but I'll be looking at both your vids over the next couple of days.

My username on you tube is SylvaDragonDreams, not much to see there though yet. I've not put the vid I made my boyfriend up there since it's kinda private, and not that good lol.
