1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
took a roadtrip to Seattle, went to the top of the Space Needle, hugged a Sitka Spruce tree in the Hoh National Rainforest
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I never make them because I know I can't keep them.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, my cousin, Michelle had the most beautiful and tiny baby girl
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No
5. What travels did you embark on this year?
A two day drive each way from Minnesota to Montana and back again, and the best Thanksgiving roadtrip to Seattle and the west in general!
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
To be certain of the choices I make
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Dec. 13--my birthday. Had the most wonderful evening planned out-going to see The Nutcracker for the first time in about six years, then caught the instant Norovirus that had been going around campus two minutes before showtime--literally, and spent the night becoming more acquainted with the toilet than I really ever wanted to...
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Making up my mind about what I wanted to do in life which meant transferring to a new university, but leaving good friends behind.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Being impatient and still is...
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Noro on my birthday and a lovely allergic reaction to mosquito and deer fly bites--my ankles were the size of softballs so I couldn't walk for a couple of days
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My new laptop-and I love it so! And of course, all the 25 cent clearance books that have been on my book list for ages! I added about 100 different books to my library this year!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
A friend who is not a friend anymore! Let myself know I shouldn't waste my time and energy trying to keep up when the person really didn't care
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
That friend who is no more, who put on the act as though they were my friend for my whole college career and found she was backstabbing me the whole time and ecstatic when she found out I was transferring
14. Where did most of your money go?
Fixing my car and into my new laptop.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Finally figuring out what jazzed me up to decide what I want to do with my life: be a Wildlife Ecologist/Wildlife Rehabilitator!
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
"Take me home, country road"--John Denver and the rest of the "Seattle Mix" which includes Gaelic Storm, Rusted Root, Bon Jovi, The Killers, Jack Johnson, and Jump5 to name a few!
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Both: happy that I've figured out what I want to do with my life and sad that I have to leave my best friend to reach my goal
ii. thinner or fatter? thinner--a lot of stomach issues where I can't stand to digest anything thicker than broth
iii. richer or poorer? poorer on the account of my laptop and my car
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
paid attention to signals and body language

worrying and stressing out

With family on both sides-should be interesting

None!

I don't have a TV to watch anything, but when I'm home I love Good Eats on the Food Network. Alton Brown is a man after my own humor...and heart and stomach!
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate, no. Disappointed and annoyed, yes, by the friend who didn't have the guts to tell me she didn't like me to the face instead of putting on the "I'm your best friend act"
26. What was the best book you read?
Very difficult decision. There's a couple: "World Without End" by Ken Follet; "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden (read it a couple times!); "Unbowed" by Wangari Matthai
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Yann Tiersen--someday when I get my hands to cooperate with me, I'll be able to play the main theme from "Goodbye Lenin!"
28. What did you want and get?
A rock climbing harness--finally! Bought with my birthday money
29. What did you want and not get?
a peaceful christmas with mom's side of the family, everything was forced until it finally exploded

"Grumpy Old Men" and "Grumpier Old Men"--these two are the classics in our family!

not having to face reailty
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
same as its been since high school: laid back, ultra comfy, with the occasional inspiration to dress up, i.e. khakis and a nice blouse-like shirt

Going for hikes up Mt. Helena to sit and gaze out over the valley and sketching
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I go through phases..last one was Meryl Streep, but the ones who remain constant are Robert Redford, Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman, and Katharine Hepburn
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
People outside the Great Lakes Watershed wanting to tap into our water for their own use!
37. Who did you miss?
Megan, who I found out loves "Grumpy Old Men" as much as I do. Ox and Nag are the norm for us to call each other now!

Nichole-my new roommate and Gary, my rock climbing buddy

Never be afraid to take a chance if you leads you to your dream, even if it means leaving behind those you love

I don't think I can pick just a lyric, rather a song: "Two of Us" originally done by the Beatles. However I like the Aimee Mann and Micheal Penn version from the movie "I Am Sam" better. You have to listen to the whole song to get feel of it, but in any case, here are my favorite lines:
