Favorite Character in a book or a movie

I don't know if this has been done before, at least I didn't find it when looking.

My favorite characters always seem to be minor characters. What can be rather frustrating while reading so much about others.


Here are some I like best:
Minerva McGonagall (no need to explain )

Elinor Loredan (Inkheart)

Laurentia Galindo (Cranford)

all three are very much alike in character I suppose, but I simply can't help it, they rock.

My favourite characters are:

Jean Brodie (who saw that one coming? LOL) from The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

Minerva McGonagall (obviously)

Absolutely any character that Maggie or Judi Dench plays onscreen LOL.

Well, besides my obvious answer of Minerva, I would have to say Olive Snook from Pushing Daisies, which is a TV show so it doesn't fall under your category, but she is still my favorite. Mainly, because she reminds me so much of myself. It's really eerie, because she says the same type of things I do, behaves the way I do, and randomly sings like I do. It's pretty cool to have a TV twin!

I always like the secondary characters (or side characters) in movies and books... I know! It is so difficult because it seems as though the man characters get more fanfiction, more discussion and definitely more attention. Then again that is probably why they are the *main* characters....

Madame Giry (Phantom of the Opera- movie not book)

Dora Charleston (Murder by Death)

Erin Driscoll (24, and I adore Alberta Watson)- not a movie, but oh well...

Emily Appleton (National Treasure 2, Helen Mirren is fantastic)

Gandalf (LOTR)

Pamela Landy (Bourne Movies)

Bond Rogers (the Shootist... Lauren Bacall is amazing)

Captain Amelia (Treasure Planet)

Professor Charles Xavier (X-men)

Captain Kathryn Janeway (Star Trek Voyager and Star Trek Movie: Nemesis)

Elinor (Inkheart, she is being played by Helen Mirren!!!!!)

but that's enough for now...

HOUSE HOUSE HOUSE!!!!!!! He is bomb! (Gregory House from House M.D.) Especially when he is paired with Cuddy and they become Huddy!

After reading all existing Sherlock Holmes books and watching Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes I just have to add

John H. Watson and Sherlock Holmes

to my favorite character list.

While reading "The Dying Detective" I found a quote of Watson that could easily fit another character constellation, that we are all so very fond of.

"There was a curious secretive streak in the man which led to many dramatic effects, but left even his closest friend guessing as to what his exact plans might be. He pushed to an extreme the axiom that the only safe plotter was he who plots alone. I was nearer him than anyone else, and yet I was always conscious of the gap between us."

Yes. I know. ;D To Kill a Mockingbird and Things Fall Apart are the only english books I've actually liked that we had to read.
