I have finally come to the conclusion that in order to receive reviews... you must review other's works. The more reviews you give... the more apt others are to return the favour.
Now I am not saying that if you review someone's work they will necessarily read and then review yours... but it doubled your chances...

I agree. People [like me] tend to have this curiousity as to who reviewed their fic and click on the profile page to find out more ... ;D

Same here. Although, I sometimes search a random word on ff.net and see if anything good comes up. I do the same thing. I has worked very well for me; as I've found some of the best fics that way.

Ditto. That was my philosophy when I first started writing work. I noticed a correlation between the people I reviewed and the people who reviewed me.
