#15 - Blue
Takes place in the 1956-1957 era.
If I had known that I would have been asked to teach Transfiguration only twelve years after my graduation, I would never have fallen for him. But, indeed I had, and Poppy reminded me of it all through the summer. For June of 1956 held a pleasant, but dangerous, surprise. It was the summer that Armando Dippet realized he was dying.
Xiomara Hooch, Poppy Pomfrey and Pomona Sprout were visiting the day the letter came. The tawny school owl landed besides Xiomara‘s glass of Firewhiskey, sticking its leg out towards me. Immediately, I recognized the narrow, slanted script and my heart skipped a beat.
Xiomara smirked, “Let me guess…” she quieted as Pomona slapped her shoulder. “C’mon Poppy, Xio – let’s go. See you later Minerva.” She shuttled the two towards the door then doubled back, “I’ll be back later Mina,” she gave me a quick hug as she pulled open the door and shooed Poppy and Xiomara away in front of her. My hands must have been shaking because I tore a diagonal line across the back of envelope.
Pulling out a sheet of parchment, I scribbled a quick response.
Then I pocketed his letter and sent mine off with his owl, which took off. But all I could think of was the man with twinkling blue eyes. And the fact that I had fallen, head over heels, in love with him.

Dear Minerva,
I am sorry to say that Armando has come to the realization that his career as Hogwarts Headmaster is coming to a close. I do hope that you will not mention this to him as it will be revealed to you soon enough. Although, I do hope you will accept our joint offer at the time to employ you as our Transfiguration professor. Please let us know.

Albus~
I’d be honored to – let me know when my interview will be.
