I Will Lie Here
See the children run amid the grass, The fields always shifting; yet still. See the summer larks rise and flitter, In the evening sky, forever varying its hue. You will see this, And I will lie here.
See the clouds trail the heavens, Their movements a lively dance. Watch the cornflower open timidly: implicitly, Life's harsh wind ambushing its approach. You will see this, And I will lie here.
See the young couple hand in hand, Silent declarations before the starry sky. See every touch of quiet regret; Unspoken love avoided at cost. You will see this, And I will lie here.
I will not see the lark; nor the Conduct of the cornflower in the meadow. I will not witness the devotion: of those So blessed in the evening's hush. I will not see this. I will lie here.
My heart shall not witness the uplifting rush; The wind amongst the poppies. I will lie here, alone. No, I shall not see this, Yet give me not white flowers: For I am watching you.
