Because They're Ignored
"I love you."
Those three little words that mean so much, that are supposed to cause absolute joy, just ruined Minerva McGonagall's life.
Oh how long she had wanted those words to be whispered from Albus Dumbledore's lips, but not now; not after pushing her feelings aside for so long, pretending there were none. Not when he was about to go out to war and face Grindelwald.
"Minerva?"
"I'm sorry Albus," Minerva whispered refusing to meet Albus' eyes, for tears were sure to fall.
"Minerva, wha-"
"I'm sorry Albus, but I don't love you," Minerva said, taking a step back, away from Albus.
Albus stepped forward, invading her personal space.
"Minerva look at me."
Minerva shook her head in the negative, refusing to do as he asked.
Albus gently took Minerva's chin in his hand and lifted her head up so his blue eyes could battle her emerald green ones.
"Minerva, you do love me."
"No I don-"
"Yes you do. Minerva, facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored. Minerva, I love you, and I know you love me."
Minerva gently tugged her chin out from Albus' grasp and looked away. "Goodybe Albus and good luck."
With that, Minerva walked away from Albus, leaving him to let himself out.
"Goodbye Minerva. I love you." Albus turned and walked out the door leaving Minerva alone to cry in her empty house.

The final battle had lasted for days on with many casualties consuming both sides. Victory was declared when Albus Dumbledore had killed Grindelwald. After talking to reporters from the Daily Prophet, answering questions from the ministry officials, and talking to his "fans", Albus Dumbledore was finally able to go home and relax.
He apparated just outside of the boundaries of his home, and he walked quickly inside so as to get a nice glass of hot cocoa.
He went to sit in his sitting room, and with a flick of his wand, his hot cocoa was prepared. Sipping his beverage, his thoughts wandered to Minerva.
"I really do love her," he though out loud.
"And she loves you."
Albus jumped up and spun around, wand at the ready. Upon seeing Minerva, he put his wand back into his robes.
"Minerva?"
"I'm sorry Albus. I'm sorry I said I didn't love you. I do, I really do. I've loved you for so long, but I shoved those feelings aside, pretending they aren't there. I just didn't want to ruin our friendship. Then, when you said that, I just- oh Albus I'm so sorry!"
By now, tears were streaming down Minerva's face, and a few long strides, Albus was holding Minerva in his arms. After a couple minutes of sobbing, Minerva's tears started to slow until there were no tears left.
"Albus, I love you," Minerva whispered looking straight into Albus' eyes.
"And I you," Albus responded kissing her lips softly in a long awaited kiss.

The next morning, Minerva awoke in bed in Albus' arms.
"Good morning, my dear," Albus said after seeing her awake.
"Good morning Albus," Minerva replied, softly kissing his lips.
They lay there for a few minutes, just holding in each other in the peace and quiet.
"You know Albus, you're right," Minerva said breaking the silence.
"About what?"
"Facts don't cease to exist just because they're ignored."
A/N: Sorry. I know it's not the best, but I was having some trouble with it.
