I think it's becasue of their personalities, very similar to Elizabeth and Darcy, or Beatrice and Benedick from Much Ado About Nothing. I understand why this is a popular ship, but I prefer Snape and McGonagall as friends or relatives *refrains from adding shameless plug *

green=slytherin=evil...whatever! McGonagall is not a death eater just because she wears a lot of green! ADMM is obviously my main ship, but I don't mind reading Minerva with others. I do hate reading about Albus with anyone else though! odd isn't it?

ok first off....green dont mean diddly squat that she's evil...she has the purest of hearts ; second...green could be her family color or something since she obviously has a clan cos she's a Scot..go scots!; and third...the green matches her gorgeous emerald eyes dammit! so ppl should buzz of about that nonsense and find a hobby or something...that's my 2 cents, but watever

I agree with Lady Tabz! Her liking Green means nothing! I like the colour emerald green! I like red, that doesn't have to signify I like blood or bloodshed. If I liked black that doesn't mean I'm evil or I'm goth, sheesh!
I don't really like McGonagall with anyone other than Dumbledore, but if it's a REALLY good story then I might like the pairing for tha tparticular moment only. Same thing with Dumbldore, only I have more against McGonagall with anyone else.

I've said time and time again to others during HP discussions (I love those, lol) that if Minerva and Albus aren't together, I don't believe they were married or involved with anyone else.
I'm like you, DaBao- I have more against Minerva with someone else, I think.

Ahh what a delightful debate. mwahahaha. Right...where was I? Ah! Minerva wears green so of course she's evil. Hmmm...I wear green and I'm not...okay that's a bad analogy. Let me rephrase that. She's in GRFYFFINDOR and went out single-handedly to save Hagrid! NOT EVIL!!!! But a quick question - does it actually SAY anywhere in the books what colour Minerva's eyes are. I know I make them emerald, grey or green-grey in my fics because I just can't recall a passage where her eye colour is stated. Anyone...? No...? As for pairing Mineva with other people...erm...well...I'm a little guilty, alright, VERY guilty of doing that. Albus, Sirius, Snape, Remus, Harry, Ron, all will find places in one of my fics. I find if the plotline is remotely, even slightly, plausible then I will go with it, so long as there is some degree of standard in the writing. As for Albus...well he's not my favourite character so I don't particularly care who he's paired with. Sorry, but that twinkle can really, REALLY irritate me sometimes. lol

I don't think the books ever give her actual eye color. But I've always imagined them to be green, maybe because I love green eyes, I dunno. I'm not going to say anymore about the green=evil debate because it is rediculous... I've read really good fics where Min is paired with Alastor, Remus, and Sirius but naturally not at the same time. I refused to read one about Flitwick and Minerva, but that was because I think it totally unlikely. Flitwick is adorable, but I'm sure he is already married to a cute little old woman and that they have lots of cute little children.

Blue I think. I love Maggie Smith, I really do, but in my mind Minerva McGonagall was so much younger. ie. 35-ish. If I was to be pedantic. 38. And where that number came from I have NO idea. It's the raven hair thing. How many 70-year-olds do you know who have black hair (excluding those who die it. I don't think Min is the hair-dye type. lol)

Flitwick is adorable, but I'm sure he is already married to a cute little old woman and that they have lots of cute little children. Sprout. I always imagined him married to Pomona Sprout. So cute together.. :-) You're right Minniequill, Maggies eyes are a really bright clear blue. I would kill to have eyes that colour.

Really? I've never thought about that before...it is rather sweet, even though I'm partial to Flitwick/OC and Pomona/Poppy. I had never considered Pomona/Poppy until I read some fics about them. I agree they are a good couple. But when I read the books I imagined Sprout and Flitwick together. I thought they were even sweeter when I saw the caracters, but only the cute Flitwick from PS/SS not the goblin like one from the later films.

Jaye, you know I love you, but the thought of Pomona and Filius... well let's just say it makes me a bit quesy. lol I do like reading Poppy/Pomona (although they seem to use Pommie for a nickname, which sounds strange to me for some reason) but I always put Pomona with an OC. Same for Flitwick.
