Right. I've actually only known about nuns wearing engagement rings for almost a year now (since I'm not Catholic), so it always struck me as being odd when I saw nuns wearing wedding rings in movies.
I still wonder why they'd give a character's figurine a ring on the wedding ring finger if it didn't mean anything, though.. I mean, someone had to have the idea to put it on there.

I don't want to get my hopes up too, too high. While I still wholeheartedly believe AD/MM are together, I do think that the ring on the Minerva figurine's finger is a bit too ornate, particularly if she and Albus were married. My other thought on that is that it could be a family heirloom or that she (gasp!) is married to someone else.
Oh, not all nuns where rings, either. I am surrounded by nuns everyday (I work with them at a nursing home), but in their order, they do not wear a ring. I believe part of the reason of this could be determined by the fact of whether they are part of an active or comtemplative order. The nuns I work with are more active.
Also, I don't mean to be condescending, but for me, as a Catholic, it is kind of offensive to joke about nuns being brides of Christ, because they truly are in the same sense that a secular woman is the bride of a man. When nuns profess their final vows, similar to the vows a man and woman might make, they do wear a dress that resembles a wedding dress complete with a veil. Yesterday, I had the privilege of witnessing two of the nuns I work with celebrate their Golden Jubilee (50 years of being a nun) by renewing their vows. While their vows are somewhat different, they are essentially the same, pledging their love and fidelity to God, who is their spouse in the same sense your mum may be to your dad.
Okay, sorry for such a long-winded post. Also, I apologize if I offended anyone with my post. I just felt that I needed to fully explain it and to somewhat get a stereotype out of the picture.

I agree (even though, yes- I'll say it again- I'm Protestant). I want to meet a nun.. A real nun. I like learning about different parts of religions. ;D

I'm sorry if I was being offensive about the whole "brides of christ" thing. I'm not Catholic but read alot of religion books. Especially those that circle around Christ's relationship with Mary Magdelene. I don't want to start a whole debate about religion and offend anyone. It's just that the idea just sounded a bit odd to me.
Back to the main topic, I don't think the ring would be there unless it had a specific purpose. I just can't see someone just putting it in there for the hell of it.

Hmm. Isaballe is sort of right: the ring is too ornate. Family heirloom? Sounds cool. Especially because I believe she is a descendent of Godric Gryffindor (although there is absolutely no proof for this). To me it doesn't matter whether she is married to Albus or not as long as she is not married to someone else. If she were married to Scrimgeour, I'd throw up for a week. Let's hope she's not.

Oh god no not Hagrid. He's with Madam Maxime or however you spell her name. I honstly want to know where people come up with some of these ships. At least ADMM has basis in the books.

I think people just get bored waiting for the next book or movie and just ship some random crazy thing like Snape/Flitwick to see other people's reactions. Kind of like how every now and then on message boards you get "attacked by trolls"

It's all because of that moment in SS where they both get a little drunk and Hagrid kisses her on the cheek and she giggles and blushes.

They build a ship on anything. Most of the time its just random and because they want to see other people's reactions.

That one line is the ONLY thing Hagrid and Min have together. I mean they talk and all but no romance even hinted at. AND during that one line they're both drunk. People do weird things when they're drunk.

Minerva blushed, for goodness sakes! It's not like they "made out" or anything!!
Oh, and I think I've been reading this board too much.. I had a dream last night that I was watching the OotP movie and they added in a scene where Dumbledore gave McGonagall a ring like that (on the figurine) and told her he needed her there to "stand by him" and "be with him" and the like. I was freaking out! haha I was quite upset when I woke up and discovered it was just a dream.

I've been having quite a few ADMM ones lately, and I don't know why. lol My brain is just crazy, I suppose. (I can't deny I enjoy them, though! ;D ) You know what was strange about that dream, though? Dumbledore was actually being played by Michael Gambon! That's never happened in my dreams before.

Lol, actually, it wasn't that bad. The first half of the dream, I kept yelling about how horrible Gambon was, but in that scene he was really... peaceful. Ick, I can't believe I just said that about him. 'Twas true in my dream, though. haha

Do people have a monkey pull the names out of a hat to make up a new ship? Why Cho/Dumbledore??? Although there is no sense in the others either.

I've wondered about Cho/Dumbledore too.. Maybe it's because someone saw a link between them and Harry and threw them together. *shrugs* I can't stand random, ridiculous ships! I'm still going with the theory that someone draws the names out of a hat.
