i78.photobucket.com/albums/j89/jay_jay_01/DSC00303-1.jpgRight, I'm not entirely sure I have managed to post the picture - the evidence! It's the Royal Doulton Professor McGonagall figurine and if you look closely you can see she is wearing a ring - a wedding ring - on her left hand! Yepp, it is the correct finger! PROOF! It has been sitting on my shelf for years! PROOF! She is married! My eyes are popping out of my head! We didn't know she was married...did we? Maybe I'm the only one who didn't know. Perhaps by posting this I have made an utter eegit of myself? Well I'm still pleased with my little observation, my keen eye, yepp one doesn't watch 10 years worth of 'Murder She Wrote' and not come away with an eye for subtle detail MARRIED! ;D P.S. I know she's a bit dusty but what can I say? She has been sitting on my shelf for years and the feather duster is foreign to me!

Well, I'm not sure, it doesn't look like a wedding band, does it? Or am I just being too sceptical?

Well, I'm not sure, it doesn't look like a wedding band, does it? Or am I just being too sceptical? *shrugs* I dunno.. It's just a toy, after all, so if they wanted it to make a character have something as small as a wedding ring, they would have to make it exaggerated so it would stick out.

Hmmm, that's right. Still, if they are secretly married ,they wouldn't probably wear rings. I just can't waint for book 7 to come out. There must be some hint!!

I can't imagine Minerva McGonagall wearing much jewerly for teaching. Can you? I would think it would have to be something special for her to wear it. The doll was great though.

ooh, sweet! More proof!
This isn't the first time toy models of HP characters have provided us with hints. Remember the lego version of Dumbledore's office that had a figure of McGonagall too?

Nooo, I don't remember that! Does anyone have a picture? And as long as JK Rowling doesn't say that Albus or Minerva are married to SOMEONE ELSE, then I'm fine (Of course, I want a full blown confession!!)! Sheer denial helps. ;D

And there is no Mrs Gambon, at least not one for whom MG would insist on wearing a ring...so the ring MUST be a costume piece

Well, according to Wikipedia, FWIW, he and his wife split in 2003--he had an affair in '02 and moved out of 'the marital home' the next year. He now lives solo but his girlfriend was due to deliver him a child last month. The Sunday Mirror had an article on Feb 25, 2007: MUMBLEDORE - GAMBON TO BE DAD AT 66 EXCLUSIVE Harry Potter wizard Sir Michael Gambon to be a dad at 66 as lover 41 pregnant By Susie Boniface 25/02/2007 HARRY Potter star Sir Michael Gambon is to become a father at 66 - with a woman who is not his wife.
The veteran actor, who plays the wizard Dumbledore in the hit films, has been seeing Philippa Hart, 41, for more than five years.
She is due to give birth to his baby in May.
He is still married to his wife of 45 years, Anne, although they are separated.
Gambon and Philippa, who are said by friends to be deeply in love, do not even live together.
A friend of the couple said: "Philippa was approaching 40 at the time and was keen to have a baby - and despite his age Michael saw no reason not to. He can afford to provide for it and wants her to be happy.
"But he's no intention of giving up his freedom. He likes to fly his plane at weekends." Given the difference in life expectancies between wizards and muggles, seems like Gambon and his girlfriend are as May-Dec as are Albus and Min...but not nearly such nice people....

Ick, yeah, I don't wanna think about Gambon and his girlfriend being like Albus and Minerva.
I always invision Richard Harris's Dumbledore when I'm reading fanfics..

As do I. I do NOT like Gambon as AD.
Heard Steve Vander Ark of the HP Lexicon speak last night. He is absolutely brilliant. One of his (many) lines which had me ROTFLMAO: "The films are nice. I consider them very expensive fanfiction."

Apparently Gambon's sig other hatched their kid in mid-May. tinyurl.com/36cs9oThe Daily Mail Revelling in the magic of parenthood, it's Professor Dumbledad by POLLY DUNBAR - More by this author ยป Last updated at 20:42pm on 2nd June 2007 "Late fatherhood seems to agree with notoriously grumpy actor Sir Michael Gambon - pictured for the first time with girlfriend Philippa Hart and their newborn baby enjoying the sunshine. The 66-year-old Harry Potter star and the 42-year-old designer reclined on a bench to coo over their new addition, who was born a fortnight ago, after taking a stroll through a West London park. "

God, Gambon disgusts me more. If that's even possible. He is totally screwing up the way people see Dumbledore. He's ruining everything that Richard Harris did!

So he is married but I read somewhere alot of married actors and actresses don't wear wedding bands because of the fact they might forget to take them off before shooting and I know alot of them don't. Julie Andrews, Marcia Cross (Before she got married on DH) Eva Longoria, Tom Cruiz ect.

I've heard that too. It's actually a pretty fun thing to look for in a movie to see if the actors wear their wedding ring. In "Sister Act" (I think that was the movie with Maggie Smith as a nun) you can see half of the nuns with wedding rings.

A nun will often wear a simple wedding band to signify she's the bride of Christ. So, unless it's something ornate or has a huge engagement ring behind it, it could in fact be perfectly appropriate.

lol, brides of christ. i dunno why but the thought of that makes me laugh. And kind of shudder.
