I know Minerva and Albus are together. All signs point to "DUHH... ? <3 "
so, I was thinking about how JKR said that there wouldn't be any new characters introduced in book 7. Had Albus been married to someone else besides minerva and she had passed away, would she be considered a new character still? Or just a memory, a part of his past?
Is the past fair game for JKR? Can she describe Albus' past without introducing anybody physically?
To me, Albus has either been involved with Minerva (the most logical pick) or another witch who has passed on.
solving puzzles is fun, kids ): <3

That's a really good question. I'm not really sure. Crap, now I'm gonna be thinking about this for the whole day. I personally wouldn't consider someone from his memory as a new character since we don't get introduced to them but I am so hoping that thats not gonna happen.

I wouldn't consider them a new character either :B A character, to me, is somebody who is introduced in any way to any story, even if they are not actively participating in the events of it... but I wonder if she can write and explain an entire story without mentioning some people we haven't met yet? There's a lot to explain. I really hope that it isn't the case and that there's no wife coming out of the woodworks. D: <3 or WORSE, if she doesn't address minerva or albus at all in the context that we want her to. That might be torture!!! We'd have to write letters.

This is an interesting theory indeed, we'll just have to wait and see how the story plays out.

Can you give me a link or something to where JKR said there wouldn't be any new characters?

So she doesn't technically say there will be no others, just no one major.

hmmm... It could then have an implication of Albus or Min being together with someone else, but otherwise... JKR said that there would not be any major new characters, so there is still some possibility of AD and MM being together.

I like the cast list bit .... I'm a nerd. Okay, well. I hope the characters we don't know well include Minerva. I want to know everything JKR can possibly dream up about her.

^^ I do, too..
I mean, has she actually told us much about Min? More than the books tell, anyways?

WEll... there is always the option of him being with someone we already know, and is not McGonagall. Im not saying that going to be what it is, but it could be. lol.

The only option I can imagine for that would be the trolley witch from the Hogwarts Express! Of all the witches we know better--faculty, Order, etc.--MM is the most logical choice. If it's *not* her IMO it has to be someone rather outside the box. And it would explain how he always has such a ready supply of sweets. :-) I do hope it's Min, of course! I will still want to know why the trolley witch was at the funeral--surely more than to honour AD's discriminating taste in sweets? Is she a sister?

I wondered about the trolley witch, too.
I read something about JKR using the funeral scene to sort of remind us of characters who will be important in the seventh book, like Aberforth. I hope that, if she does play a part, the trolley witch is Albus's sister (or sister-in-law? o.O) since she came with Aberforth.
If Albus is not with Minerva, he can't be with anyone. It's not allowed. >_<

I don't see Albus being married to just anyone out of the blue. She'd have to be very special (*coughs*MINERVA!*coughs*). I've heard the theory about the trolley witch, but I much more prefer her as Albus's sister or sister-in-law.
And you're right, Anglophile- it simply isn't allowed for Albus to be with anyone other than Minerva. ;D

I would be so thrown off if she made it the trolley witch (although I read her being there as a testament to Albus' kindness and life, that even the most small of characters was affected by his kindness) but *giggles* I really want to know aberforth's place in the book. I mean, she wouldn't just stick in a random weird sibling unless it had relevance. but, yes back to Minerva. It should be her... the simple fact is: otherwise, we would have known about Minerva and Albus' individual histories already. probably. why wait so long to introduce the wife. I could see if it helped the plot to delay the introduction of albus' wife... but I could see it even more if it were Minerva. Also, why doesn't she disclose Minerva's husband? She is probably married, several of the teachers are probably married, but unless both minerva and albus' separate mates were heavily involved with a key factor in the plot, it wouldnt make much sense to delay the introduction until now. so I'm taking the quote to mean that no major characters will be introduced... hmm I would consider albus' wife, whoever she is, to be a major character, right? Even by the standards of the plot and not my romance-addled brain would she be considered a major character. edit: okay, haley. time for bed... I'm starting to sound MMAD even by my own standards lol
