A/N:: I’m usually not used to writing stuff this sad, and I was expecting to save it for later, but.. Here ya go.
FanFic 100 Challenge #:: 087- Life
Disclaimer:: I do NOT own the quote that is in italics. It is by Winnie the Pooh. hehe
She entered the room cautiously, fearfully; it had been quite some time since she had to be summoned to her own husband’s office.
“You needed something?” she asked, but from the exact moment she looked into his taut face, she knew the words that would come next.
“Minerva, it’s time.”
“No!” she tried to shout, but the sound would not come.
The room seemed to whirl around her; her knees suddenly failed her. She shut her eyes tightly and braced herself, but she never felt the fall. Upon opening her eyes, Minerva found herself held securely in Albus’s arms. She then began to realize it may be the last time he would hold her…
“I must go with you,” she mumbled, but the voice did not sound like her own.
Minerva heard Albus say something about the Horcruxes, but her mind could not focus. It was true that they both knew this day would likely come, but why now? Did she ever truly believe there would ever be a time she would have to live her life without him? She felt as though she could no longer breathe…
“I love you,” she heard Albus speak into her ear.
She then noticed the tears streaming down his face, as well as her own.
“I love you too,” she gasped, desperately holding him closer.
Albus steadied Minerva and looked deep into her teary eyes.
“Minerva, if there ever is a tomorrow when we're not together, there is something you must always remember: you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think, but the most important thing is even if we are apart, I'll always be with you.”
They sobbed together, and Albus kissed her passionately on the lips.
“Goodbye, my love.”
Their fingers intertwined for a moment until Albus embraced and kissed her once more and for the final time.
As he walked away, Minerva felt something die within her, and she instantly knew he had taken with him a piece of her own soul.
THE END
