Harry Potter Halloween Costume Ideas

HALLOWEEN IS NEARLY HERE

Hey guys:

It's getting awfully close to Halloween. I am having to make up a rather blotched costume of Minerva, but that's okay. I'll take what I can get until I can gather everything up. It's going to take a little time. But, I wanted to throw some ideas out there to you guys if you've got a little money to splurge on putting together the costume.

All right I shop on Amazon.com because it's the most convenient place for me. I'm going to split up the costumes by name so that it's a little clearer and hopefully help give you guys some tips that will help if you're trying to come up with your own costume but are a little strapped for cash. Also, please feel free to toss your own ideas in the mix as well because two or (more) heads are better than one.

MINERVA MCGONAGALL

HERE is her wand. It's not a bad price and most of these wands have gotten good reviews on other sites and I do believe that someone on this site purchased their wand from here. It's 35 USD and is a replica from the movie.

I can't afford it though because it was either the wand or her hat and it was easier to get her hat right now. So, I'm going to use one of my chop sticks that I eat with as a wand or I'll just carve one out of a piece of wood.

HERE is a replica of her hat and it is officially licensed. It seemed to be the better choice of some of the others. It is the one Maggie wore in the Sorcerer's Stone.

HERE is the one she wore in HBP and it is most certainly cheaper. It is also officially licensed.

HERE is a slightly cheaper version of the first hat. It too is officially licensed.

Okay so we all know there are no Minerva costumes out there. All there are are the accessories. They don't even really have Minerva glasses, but THESE are somewhat similar. I'm just going to use my real glasses that I have because though they're not square I can move them down some on my nose and pull off the basic look anyway.

Okay so for the rest of the costume. You can use a black long sleeved dress or a black skirt with a black turtleneck or something to that extent. As for outer robes I'm going to use this black shawl like thing I own. She wears mostly black in HBP as it is. So, I'm not really concerned with the overall robes part. At some point I do hope to come across some green material similar to what she wears in the Sorcerer's Stone.

ALBUS DUMBLEDORE

Guys I'm sorry but there is no way to really get around the price on this thing unless some of you have found something better and if you have please share.

HERE is the 45 USD mask. However the nice thing about this mask is that the hat is already included.

However if you don't want to go the route of the mask you can get a white BEARD1 ;; BEARD2 and Albus HAT1;; HAT2.

HERE is an outer robe that is something similar to what Albus might wear.

HERE is his wand.

VOLDEMORT

HERE is the full costume.

HERE is the latex mask which honestly to me looks better than the other one you get, of course you'll have to pay more and it does not come with anything else.

HERE is his wand.

However if you can't afford to do the Voldemort thing (he is expenisve) you can always go to wal-mart and get the ten dollar cloak they have and paint your face white/pale. And brandish something like a piece of light colored wood as a wand. You can wear black clothes underneath the cloak. It would totally work.

DOBBY

HERE is his mask.

HERE are his hands.

You can stain up a sheet and fix it up like the pillowcase he wears in the movies for the rest of the costume.

SEVERUS SNAPE

HERE is his wand.

HERE is the closest I could find to a wig that looks near to his hairstyle.

Now for the rest of the costume I suggest doing the same thing as with Voldemort. Just get a cheap cloak and wear black pants and shirt underneath.

HERMIONE GRANGER

HERE is what I would consider the slutty version of Hermione.

Now THIS HP ROBE is listed for men but I don't see why it couldn't work for women as well. Now so far the only wigs listed are ones that are for kids.

THIS wig isn't exactly Hermione style, but it's close.

HERE is her wand.

As far as the rest of the costume I say wear pretty much what you want to underneath. Hermione wore casual clothes in the movies, so wear whatever makes you comfy.

HARRY POTTER

Just use the same HP ROBE that I listed for Hermione because it is actually listed as Harry's anyway.

HERE is his glasses.

HERE is his wand.

Once again just wear what you want underneath. He wore a lot of casual clothes too.

If you're wondering why I didn't link to you any cheaper wands is because there were a lot of complaints about those. A lot of people said they weren't worth the price that something else would work better. But they are there on Amazon if you want them.

I didn't list all the characters sorry it would have taken too long to get everyone listed. But, if you would like for me to specifically put together a costume for you like I've done with these please post here and I'll be glad to do it. Also please guys feel free to throw some ideas in here. We all want to look our best for Halloween.
